Banned from Tesco - 'Misusing Coupons'

But thats their risk.
I know it is, I just said as much.
You were the one trying to say it's immoral for customers to use them when not buying the product. There's no difference between what the customer is doing and Tesco is doing. Tesco are indeed encouraging such behaviour by having the policy.0 -
Tesco are indeed encouraging such behaviour by having the policy.
I don't think they're so much encouraging such behaviour as they are policing it. It's one of those things that can work (the times where you could say a manufacturer has lost out will probably be cancelled out by someone buying their product but with someone else's voucher) but only if people don't take the !!!!. There is give and take in this world. The problem is some people don't know when to stop.0 -
Don't agree, AFAIK they're the only supermarket to have such a policy. It's because of their size and power over their suppliers they can have such a policy. It's not something they're doing on the manufacturer's behalf. The fact they have the policy encourages people to use it.I don't think they're so much encouraging such behaviour as they are policing it.
And by definition each time the customer uses the coupon in that way they're just using it in place of another customer who has bought the product without the coupon. Tesco seem to want it both ways.the times where you could say a manufacturer has lost out will probably be cancelled out by someone buying their product but with someone else's voucher0 -
I am just interested,no one has said that accepting vouchers when you haven't made the purchase is not accepted by some companies-I feel sure I have read it is ..I don't use vouchers, not sure whether it's wise after reading the OP0

But when you use the coupons does it cover more than 10-20% of the shop?Groovygirl wrote: »I use my credit card clubcard everytime I shop and I hand over anything between £5 and £25 worth of vouchers at a time. All individual vouchers, a mixture of internet and ones received via the post.
remember each store has its own policeI have used them for the last 5 months without an issue. If the SA is not sure they speak to a supervisor who confirms that its ok as long as there are not duplicates and that they stock the item.
We know he comes out with blinding "advice", Tesco/others will clock on and stop taking them, where would that leave the coupon people?Martin has advertised this policy on Radio 2. Now as we all know it states that they are not to used against anyother product than stated on the voucher but Tesco take them regardless.
Its clear you haven't read the thread I recommend you do before jump to assumptionsIt is a luxury that they do at the moment, that is their choice that they give to us freely. If you are not happy with Tescos decision to allow this then take it up with them and not Dailyclicker.
Im not, you are also being nasty so likewise to you
Also remember the "Forum Etiquette" this is supposed to be a friendly board. We are all entitled to our opinion but there's no need to be nasty with it.0 -
Hey, d.edna, do you work for Tesco or not?0

I have read it too, Holly, But I'm beginning to think it is a regional or even store level decision whether to accept coupons without purchase. I have never yet found a coupon I want to use, either you have to reach a minimum spend or else the coupon refers to something I don't use! So I don't bother. For all their 'profiling' they claim to do from loyalty cards - stores certainly seem to have me wrong!
As the damn things seem to cause so much confusion and trouble, it's time stores abandoned the system and just reduced the prices - simple and more effective;);)0 -
Just been reading through some of this thread.
I have used coupons for a long time BUT has only been a max of 10% of my shopping bill. eg I spend £70 and use vouchers £7 (often cannot find enough for that amount) Never had any problems not buying the stuff on the coupons.
I think something isn't quite right about all this. In the OP it says A purchase; in post 4 '2 coupons for 1 purchase'; on page 2 'ALL shopping using coupons'.
Did you try and use 2 coupons when purchasing 1 item?
Is this something you have done on a regular basis?
Do you try paying for ALL your shopping with coupons and no cash?
How come you were at CS when you had been banned?
Not having a clubcard and you shop at Tesco regularly - that doesn't make sense especially when you are obviously so involved in coupons.
There is a lot more to this than the poster is admitting to and that is why she has been banned.
btw I don't work for Tesco but like others have said - they can have in their shop who they want. Their policy of taking coupons is extremely fair but those who take the p. get all they ask for.0 -
Just looking at your previous posts DailyClicker. Here's one for starters!

I have an amazing local Tesco's!
Did a little bit of shopping just now, and came to £14.83!!!
So out came my coupons, to the value of around £30.00, and this young lady was quite surprised with the amount I had!
But she let me scan them all and had a joke with me about them!
So I paid 18p! :j
So since I have started coupon saving, I have saved £49.51 worth!!!
Only spent £1.45!
Quite fantastic for my first week! I am extremely lucky to have fantastic staff in my local Tesco's!
The only tip, that I can give is to be nice and smile :T
Thanks for sharing the coupons!!!
