:rolleyes: Silly me went and checked my emails before going off to get the mince on and I had an email telling me about a sale on https://www.marisota.co.uk - there is lots of footwear in wider fitting and lots of plus size clothes too and heaps and heaps of things at 50% off including autumn/winter gear. I've mopped up the best bargains though...:o:o
  • EssexGirl, so sorry to hear of your loss too (((hugs))) for you. I'm sure the pork stew wasn't something particularly on your mind... but thank you for remembering I asked :)
    Candygirl, thinking of you too.
SnowyOwl, your neighbour sounds like mine - an interesting sight...!
Celyn, welcome back from your hols. Fingers crossed for the job for you.
Redruby, haven't got round to the cookies yet (as I decided visiting my mate in Kent was more fun today than staying home to write my research proposal, lol). I think it will be the weekend when I have a go, so I'll let you know how they turn out.
Floss2, sounds like you've done a good job with your DS's - my youngest DD(12) keeps going round turning stuff off now we have our energy monitor to see how low she can get it :)

Doing sausage, boiled potatoes & peas/corn for supper as I write. Middle DD likes the potatoes boiled but not mashed.... ?
First day of placement tomorrow so someone else will have to cook dinner!!
(((hugs)))) to all those needing them.

Evening all (Dixon of Dock Green moment, Thriftlady. As I remember the series you can't be old since I am a mere child... :D  )

Hugs for Essex Girl and her family, my sincere condolences on your loss.

WM was on in the night and now dried - hurrah. I haven't put the storage heaters on yet either, but this house tends to be quite warm.

Meatballs on pasta with tomato sauce for tea.

I still have yet to catch my quince..

Celyn - don't forget rejections tend to get sent before acceptances, fingers crossed for you.

Thank you all for your hugs and kind words.

Feeling a bit more human now, its just going through that 'I wish' stage - I wish I had seen her last week, I wish I had gone to see her more often.
Am very glad I went yesterday, spent 5 hours there (the hospital staff were lovely). Kids havnt lost anyone close to them before so it is hard.

Nan was brilliant at OS, she was with my grandad for 50 years and he was a very tight man so she was very good at stretching money and obviously she had lived through (both!) wars. Her cooking was lovely. However she did make me laugh when she couldnt work out why we had wooden floors put down and love open fires - she was so happy the day she had fitted carpets and a gas fire put in :rotfl:

Anyway have had a lazy day today and was out most of yesterday so there will be plenty to keep me busy and my mind off things tomorrow. Menu plan is all over the place but going to have an early night and worry about it tomorrow.

    Thanks again.
    x

Sistercass - at least you know about her now hope she doesnt cause you any more trouble.
  • Hi all

Well not much OS today, been at work all day and off out to pick OH up from work soon.

I got in just in time to do the kids tea, plain pasta would you believe. I must have the two fussiest eaters in the world. Still at least pasta is good for them! A shame though as I am just learning to cook nicer food and they are not keen on most of it

I have emptied the dishwasher and had a quick tidy up. Will have t oleave the rest till later I think. I might even let OH do it tomorrow as I am nice like that.

Me and OH made Jambalaya last night, I got the recipie from the meal plans thread and it was gorgeous. We enjoyed cooking together that much that we have decided that every saturday night we will cook something different after the kids have gone to bed. We are going to do a pudding this week - any ideas????

I bought my DD a vertbaudet storage cupboard (told OH it only cost £30;) ) and it came today while I was at work so I am considering building that tonight. I was going to leave it will we move but I am dying to get it done. There is a matching bedside cabinet and I am so close to ordering it. I decided that I was going to save so much money with my new found OS ways that I would save enough to pay for it soon.

Essex Girl - :grouphug: I am very sorry for you and your family's loss.

Off now to get OH - he'd better appreciate me!:D

Enjoy whats left of the day

How about a bread & butter pudding...I made hot cross bun & butter pud the other night, we've also had Nigella's croissant one, and apparently when made with chocolate brioche its lovely.

Also, was thinking about your curtains - why not add strips of plain or contrasting fabric to some of the ones made for you by your mum (?) so you can keep them going? Or make them into cushion covers to keep them in your home for a while longer?

    Floss x
  • Floss What a fantastic idea, I have a pair of largish cream ones that she made that are just a bit too short for the new dining room, I could add a strip of fabric that will make them fit. Then I will get to take at least one pair with me:T

Thank you for that idea, I am really touched that you thought of me:beer:

Feeling really smug as I managed to wrestle the "sold " sign off the board and then hide it so "friend" or "mate of friend" cannot play the same trick.

It might have been funny once - when houses were selling- it was barely funny a few weeks ago- and it is definately not funny now.

Our houses are very unusual and if we have lost a potential viewing because of daftness I will be sorely tempted to stick the sign somewhere innovative- and painful for the perpetrator!!!

DD's friend came for tea and happily devoured hobnobs, sausages, bacon, egg and baked beans done in the Remoska.

Managed to find a really cute bracelet watch for DD for a Christmas present on Amazon in the sale and a book sort of leapt into my basket for me -oops!

Will make a loaf tomorrow in the Panasonic as we are running low on bread and might make lentil soup in the slow cooker if it looks like cold weather.
