More hugs from me, too. I lost my Gran a couple of years ago and I always think of her when I read the OS threads/do OS things - she was 'comfortable' enough by the time I was born not to have to be too careful, but I do remember her doing things like using the bacon fat to cook potatoes or egg, which was lovely! And she bought Stork because it was Cheaper, before margarine became 'healthy'... Butter was an occasional treat. Apparently, she also worked in the original Ministry of Food during the war!DFW stats:

..... I don't tend to wear skirts too much in summer(white legs:eek: )but i do like them with my knee boots.
Enjoy the rest of your day x
I'm exactly the same RR, colleagues in work know its winter when my skirts & boots come outMy current problem is that I've lost about 3/4 stone over the last couple of months and my skirts all twizzle round me & my trousers are too big on the waist & hips, so I need to do some altering (but haven't got my sewing machine yet
).
Not much OS yet today - OH did dishes last night so nothing to be washed yet, WM going on when i get home from work. Have a large heap of ironing to do so may start that tonight (it will be crawling out of the room it is hidden in soon), but also want to start BF chrimbo pressie of a scarf made with some lovely 1/2 price flecked wool from John Lewis (got 3 balls for her scarf & 3 for mine
) AND if I don't start DB's expectant partner's baby's knitting soon it will be here & too big for the cardi I'm planning!
Supper for me is h/m salmon & pasta salad left over from last night's tea (note to self: buy cucumber on way home to add) with maybe a glass of vino de plonko to help with the ironing while the footie is on
Was watching a C4 Dispatches the other night about energy bills & was astounded at the couple who had never read their meters - my DS's (both now living away from home) were [STRIKE]forced [/STRIKE]encouraged to read my meters when the bills came, so I could blame them for the high usage(and this is going back several years when energy was relatively cheap). DS2 has taken great pride in getting the tariffs capped on the flat he shares, and DS1 is an internet-reading junkie, who knows what their daily & weekly consumption & cost should be. Maybe that is something to add to the national curriculum - good home management skills.
Ok, rant over - will go & do some work now!
Love to all

hello all :hello:hope you are all well. I'm back from holiday (yesterday and am supposed to be finding my boss, but he's AWOL again). Estonia was lovely and well worth a visit, even at this time of year.
We have a nightmare house guest, who, when we got back last night, found that he had broken the fridge and left the flat a complete state. I am not a happy bunny. I have told him where the stardrops areAnd he's drunk all my diet coke
Toor dahl and dumplings for dinner, if I get back home in time - the absence of green vegtables/dairy products in the house necessitates something pulse based.
I still haven't heard about my job and I'm starting to get worried. I've never applied for something that I really wanted before. Closing date was the friday 30th sept and I know all the stuff has to get from HR to the relvant people and I know it takes time, but...
I bought some cookie cuttersI haven't tried them yet as I normally end up making a sheet of gingerbread that has to be sliced... Does anyone has a good recipe that doesn't spread?

SnowyOwl How is Dylan doing today?
Made the jolly old Shepherd Spy this morning, Mr LW now has a full tum and a happy expression. :rotfl:
We have to go into town when he finishes w*rk for the day (in about 10 mins) cos he's desperately in need of a haircut. I don't really feel up to going, but if I go with him, we can park for free with my Blue Badge.
I'd probably better shut up, and go and put some war paint on, can't go out looking a complete fright!:p
Have a good day, all.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Hello everyone
Essex-girl, I'm sorry to hear about your Nan. It's hard, isn't it, when a family member goes.
Jorgan, hugs to you too, it sounds like there is a certain inevitability in the situation. I hope your mum makes it back in time.
Wee Dylan....oh dear, what can I say....he is actually very happy in himself, and you really wouldn't know that something is wrong, except for the fact that he can't toilet himself. The vet has given me some tablets which are supposed to make the large intestine contract and thus push his doodah out - so I'll have to wait and see. I have been advised to make sure that Dylan has access to a large litter tray at all times:o. All I can do now is hope that the drugs work.
Today's old styley has been a bit sparse so far. I had a good old lie in this morning (but then I was up half the night unable to sleep) and I've been down to the vet to get the medicine. I also had a trip to the bank - my bank balance is very very scary after all of Dylan's problems. I've also put a colour in my hair as it was decidedly two tone, like I had a badger stripe where my parting is.
I need to do a bit of cleaning etc, so I'll crack on with that. I'm having mince & tatties tonight, so will get the mince on now. Oh and it's Coronation Street as well, I think there's going to be lots of weeping and wailing this evening.
Oh dear, my neighbour is outside - she's wearing low slung trousers and a short top and there must be about three stones worth of flab bouncing about in the fresh air as well as a couple of inches of builder's bum. It's not a pretty sight at all, sometimes a bit frumpy is better than a bit trendy.
Thanks everyone for asking about Dylan. I'll pass on your hugs and kisses just as soon as he stops being smelly (side effect of the enema:eek: though I still love him all the same).
Bye

Essex Girl - so sorry to hear of your loss:grouphug: (i think thats a hug!)
Joannasmum happy birthday
I have had a very upsetting time at work this week . we have a relatively new boss and she has been really nice and supportive until now when I have actually realised she is being very underhand and manipulative. I came face to face with her yesterday lying about something she had said to me ( denying she had ever said anything) making me out to be the liar. I challanged her directly and she just denied it again  I couldnt believe it. i dont stand a chance as its her word against mine and she is in the postion of power. however I know and she knows I know that she is a liar and I will be very wary of her. She is manipulating everyone who is important and intimidating those who arnt:mad:
I shall definitly be watching my back
on an OS front I havent been a bit OS today!:D
in fact we are having fish and chips for tea instead of the planned pasta and tom sauce to cheer me up:D
