  • Zippy, I hate to sound like teacher, but getting too cold can do horrible things to us. For when you do need to put on gas fire, can you kneel on a cushion or get a garden kneeler to help? I must insist that you stay warm :p
What Auntie Axe said. Twice. :p

Do you have a microwave? (Sorry, you might have already answered that question before, I can't remember.) If so, treat yourself to a couple of wheat cushions/pillows/bags. I find that when I get really cold (and I too have a cold leather sofa which seems to suck the heat out of one if it's cold), I find one of them heated up and put over or under my feet helps me warm up reasonably quickly.

BZ - Make sure you keep toasty and warm with hot water bottle, blankets and hot drinks.

My nails snap off really low down, Ive tried loads of different nail strengtheners which help for about a week then stop. I'm embarressed about my nails they are really tatty

Well I've got my warmed up laptop on my knees...does that count? ;)

I don't bother with nail varnishes or nail strengtheners etc I've never really needed them and prefer the au naturel look for my nails. I've found that my nails become weaker using nail varnish - something to do with it blocking the air off from the nails...? I've always had quite nice nails, since I was like 10/12 and decided not to bite them anymore (or I'd have nails like my older sister -bleurgh! ;)) so it's horrid that they're starting to snap. I really hope it's a short term thing - I don't wanna have short or false nails for the wedding (sorry, did I mention I was getting married? :D).

Are you getting married, then Zippy? I didn't realise.

Oh, acksherly I wear 1 false nail 'cos one of mine has a defect running up it so I can never get it to grow without breaking, but I don't think anyone notices unless I tell them. The secret to false nails is not to go for those ghastly extensions or the talon type. There are some quite realistic falsies out there if you know what you're looking for.

I don't think it's the nail varnish that caused your nails to split - more likely the nail varnish remover. It can be pretty potent stuff if you're not careful which one you go for.

It's not the knees so much as the getting up and down and the awkward position I'm holding myself in.
I do have a mic, yes, but OH blew up my wheat bag a few weeks ago when he was moaning incessantly about his tooth  Ex has promised me another one (the one that works in the health shop -who'll, incidentally, be our usher :)) but I've not seen it to get it off him.

  • hey everyone, feeling really low today. dont want to depress you all but feeling the need to vent/ramble!

i usually try to get out the house a couple of times a week, but been so tired this week i havent left once, barely left my room so getting cabin fever! i dont know if anyone remembers but my partner moved out, but recently we've been seeing each other which is good, although no plans for him to move back in. So ive seen him and my fantastic mum and dad which is nice, but its hard being only 23 and having no friends when you hardly leave the house.

i cant drive, i dont have a job, and no hope of getting one as i seem to be getting worse as time goes on. i find the frustrating thing about this disease is that the more you fight it the worse of you become! i guess im just scared ill never get any sort of life back. i want to fight but i dont want to get sicker.

anyway if youre still reading thanks.

  • Still reading, Roxi - have a !!{hug}} hon. All I can say is bear with it - this week was bad, but next week might be a bit better. Sorry, currently too tired to come up with anything more helpful than that.

Hopefully someone else will come along soon with something more useful to say.

Roxsi, I know exactly what you mean. I'm only 26 and know how hard it is that when you should be starting life out and starting to fulfill your ambitions that you end up being cut down in your prime. Other people look at you and do that "I don't know what you're worried about, you're still young!" thing, which just does nothing but drive you further towards/over the edge!

But take heart! If I can get through it, then believe me you can too! My dad told me a couple of years ago that I wouldn't get any friends, or a fella, by sitting at home on my computer... hate to disagree dad, but...YOU WERE WRONG! :D I'm not saying that I went off internet dating, I actually got back in touch with my now fiance on Facebook and started chatting on msn and then he started to pop round for a cuppa every now and again or we'd go for a drink. This is now 18months later and we're getting married in 9months time! :j

I think the key with the friendships etc thing is not to expect too much, but also not to say no to too much either. Even if you're feeling a bit lousy and you're not sure if you should go, often the pick-me-up you get from going out outweighs the downsides. :)

Don't worry about venting either! That's what we're here for. And if you want to talk more off forum then please feel free to PM me. And I don't make offers I don't mean :)

What are your chances of starting to learn to drive?
