Ive been out visiting DS 1 and his family today, I had to drive there and back as DH had a hangover from last night  On the drive back I started getting really bad spasms in my lower back , I dont know how I managed to get home, I dont think I will try and do that drive by myself again.

I have the same problem as SE with my eyes, and cant drive when it gets dark because of the glare from other car headlights, I've thought of those glasses that cut out the glare but I've never seen them for sale anywhere, does anyone know where to get them from ?

Welcome Mummyof3boys, good luck on Thursday

These are the ones I got http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kontrol-Yellow-Night-Driving-Flexi-Anti-Glare-Glasses_W0QQitemZ220325687860QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Helmets?hash=item220325687860&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I'm always very careful (as you know) with ebay - but this seller has 100% positive feedback and they arrived the day after I ordered them!

Are you getting married, then Zippy? I didn't realise.

Oh, acksherly I wear 1 false nail 'cos one of mine has a defect running up it so I can never get it to grow without breaking, but I don't think anyone notices unless I tell them. The secret to false nails is not to go for those ghastly extensions or the talon type. There are some quite realistic falsies out there if you know what you're looking for.

I don't think it's the nail varnish that caused your nails to split - more likely the nail varnish remover. It can be pretty potent stuff if you're not careful which one you go for.

DH and our three children all share the peculiarity of having no nail at all on their little toes:eek:. They are aliens from the planet Zog of course - I'm the only normal one ;).

It does look slightly weird as they all have this little sort of stumpy thing sticking vertically out of the top of their toes and certainly could never be models for painted toes :o.

thanks you two, feel a little better just telling someone. plus the cats came up for a cuddle - she either senses im down or she senses the hot water bottle by my feet! either way everybody wins :rotfl: zero chance of learning to drive im afraid due to finances, plus im terrified! i was sorted when OH lived here cos he had a car. maybe someone should just attach wheels to me and give me a shove! anyone else hate sunday tv? its dire, and saturdays getting just as bad, i actually resorted to watching fiddler on the roof yesterday!

    Hi Roxsi,

I'm sure that Raeh is right and you can get driving lessons paid for, as I had a friend I met in hospital who did this. She had been in a wheelchair and was getting very depressed at not being able to get out, so I am sure it was either an occupational therapist or perhaps a counsellor she saw for depression who sorted it all out. They paid for her lessons and tests as well, for as long as it took to get her through! I had similar problems with tonsillitis and glandular fever - but in truth I'd had symptoms since the age of 12 so I also know what it's like to feel you should be getting out there and experiencing life when you are young but just feeling you can't manage it.

I have never understood the 'Pacing' thing that they blather on about at Pain Management Programmes. How can you pace yourself if you don't know how you are going to feel from day to day. The main problem with having bad and not so bad days is that you can't make these sort of judgement calls .

This being said, I think you have to work hard to keep some achievable goals - even just little things - in my case this includes everything from managing to get washed and brush my teeth to making the effort to get to the cinema or my two hour course in digital imaging.

The really great thing is meeting the people on here as there's always someone around to give support or just let you know you aren't ranting to thin air :T.

    Take care

This may be going a tad off-topic but in reality I know lots of us with FMS suffer badly with the cold so this may help someone looking to replace a duvet.

I don't know if I mentioned, but whilst at CenterParcs we noticed how excellent the duvets were that they provided. They are stitched into small squares, rather than long panels so the filling never ends up all in one place.

Anyone who wants to, can read the review of Whinfell at post #22 http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1203715

Although we found the lodge itself very cold due to the bad design of very high ceilings and inadequate sized radiators for the size of the lodge - these duvets kept us really snug, so on my return I wrote and asked if they could give me the contact details for their supplier. The did indeed write back and the company is Miter, All & Letts. The contact name is Sarah Tel: 01685 343456 'Duchess' - a king size would set you back £35. I know that there are far cheaper quilts on the market, but I've just taken delivery of mine and it will be on the bed tonight!:T

    Hope this helps ;)

  • Hello all and welcome Jamla

Brain isn't working too well yet, but I agree with BZ when she questions her symptoms. I have lost all faith in my own judgement in terms of symptoms. When you have something going on all the time healthwise and spend most of your time at medical appointments you become used to feeling ill and hate the thought of seeing another medic.
No doubt that's why I didn't seek help for heart cramps for months

I used to have an analytical mind and struggle a little with "its an auto-immune type thingie". My mind needs a label to hang the problem on. I wish the funding was available for more extensive testing on AI conditions. They might eventually get to identify a cause and, extrapolating, a treatment.
Although, that being said a 7 degrees of separation friend is involved in research into Lupus and they have finally identified a gene that's responsible for the genetic disposition, but not for the disease in all cases.

Anyhoo, set alarm for 9.50am but didn't struggle out of bed until 11am.

Hope you all had peaceful nights and, raeh, take it easy through this flare up, eh?
Neck still very sore, but I doubt there's anything to be done about it other than letting it heal. Thanks for your good wishes though.

i struggled last night with boredom and ants in my pants and ended up making celeriac and leek soup and about 11pm! How on earth can you get blisters on your hands from chopping veg? I truly am a soft southerner.

Forked out for a king-sized one although there's only me and the cat in a double bed.

Has anyone come across anything that really works for minimising scars? I've tried Bio Oil, boots own type stuff and various health store concoctions such as Arnica, Aloe Vera etc.

sunlight! thats not much help in this country though but it did encourage mine to fade and not be so obvious. or possibly it was the twice daily moisturiser and sun cream etc that got applied.
