I can't speak for anyone else, but you've been a positive contribution to my life. Sorry if that sounds off, but I'm glad we've 'met'. Even if you don't really look like your avatar.
What a lovely thing to say, thank you! It doesn't sound at all off; I take it as a huge compliment.
Just wish I could say the same about you :rotfl:
But I feel the same and am grateful that our lives have crossed..
Good grief, we're at risk of being al serious here! BZ, where the bloomin eck have you put my specs this time?!

BTW, I came back to say I've just eaten Shepherds Spy a la s/e and it was probably the nicest meal I've had in ages.
Shame I have to treat myself like a kid and hide the veg in it :rolleyes:I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Actually, when I do sheherd spy, I usually put all the veg in with the mince and gravy with the spuds over the top. Saves on washing up.
Another way to get a bit of extra nutrition into you, while mashing the spuds (it has to be done while they're still very hot) mix in a raw egg. I know that sounds ghastly, but the heat of the spuds will cook the egg and if you mix it in well, you'll not really notice it's there. But it does make the mash light and fluggy (fluggy?! what the hell's fluggy when it's at home?) fluffy - especially if you then put the whole lot in the oven for a while to brown the cheese on top.s/e0 -

Sorry - it was me that borrowed them:D, due to mine breaking when I was away. A very weird thing - I was sitting up in bed reading, when all of a sudden I heard this slight crack and the arm fell off - leaving me all lopsided
. I've only had them about six months so I'll be popping to On-Spec tomorrow if the weather is better and I can get out..

Saving all furry rodents for a gourmet feast tomorrow night, being Saturday and all
I've always served Shepherds Spy on it's own without veg, but then you've probably gathered, I'm not a meat and 2 veg type person. However, give me meat and tatties or a veggie meal and I'm happy.
s/e, that's a really good idea about the egg. I am trying to make sure I get nutritionally balanced meals the majority of ther time. Cheese on toast just doesn't cut it
Unity, bummer, but you didn't have to nick mine! I had to get driving pair from car.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
It's been a quiet couple of days on here.

Being skint and all, naughtily, I don't feel quite the same moral compulsion... however, I managed to refrained and just nipped into Matalan instead  Only spent £8.81 (what's with the weird VAT business??! rhetorical) so not too bad. Got two tops (one is a long sleeved tshirt I plan to put under normal tshirts through the winter. Tried it out last week and found myself to be much warmer than I normally am. Also got a pair of socks, so not too bad I thought.
CWTA hope you recover well from the fire escapade. And listen to s/e! Take it easy and give yourself chance to recover from the aftermath. I guarantee it'll've taken more out of you that you think it has.Somebody_else wrote:*Down zippy! I'm sure it's a grim time for you and I hope we can at least give you some light relief on here, if nothing more useful
[QUOTECareful with that Axe]I worked in H&S before all myhealth stuff and background was from a firm of Tree Surgeons that I managed so, although not obsessive, it does play a part in my life and I have full H&S/First Aid kits in both car and at home. I didn't have a home fire extinguisher, merely because if you use the wrong one, you can cause more problems and I can't store all the 3 that are recommended.
I even have a small hammer in the car to break the glass in case I ever end up in water.. Maybe that one is a little excessive
[/quote]
Ditto to the H&S background. I was the schmuck who had to herd everyone out onto the carpark at least twice a year for the fire drill too. I was a First Aider too and for a very long time I felt like I had a responsibility to be on the ball for any emergency just incase (even if it was a random stranger in the street). I even took my first aid kit with me when my ex rang at 2am to say he'd found his mum dead last year - just in case. It's a very strange thing to have those responsibilities and it's only now that I'm 3years out of the game and don't go out as much that I'm starting to be able to ignore H&S or food safety breaches! (I have one of those torch/safety warning light/seatbelt cutter/glass hammer things for the car too! I used to keep it in the boot though so realised that it was neither use nor ornament!)Cwta wrote:At least I can go to bed tired knowing that I made a difference. Hope all of those MIA are OK and that flare-ups of various descriptions aren't to blame.Having a lovely time in Derby though. It's always relaxing here and it's the first place we think of coming if we just need a couple of days out. (Great that it's free - other than petrol - too
). Hoping to go to a cake shop tomorrow that's in the village with SIL to see if what I want doing for the wedding (couldn't let you down guys, it's been far too long
) cake is possible...
I'm now pondering whether it's worth trying to make it home in time for Strictly and X Factor...?My SIL and her youngest (12yr old dancing [strike]freak[/strike] fanatic) will be watching Strictly here, and X Factor's repeated tomorrow anyway...so maybe go after Strictly...?
Hope that's given you enough to go on (;)) in my absence tomorrow. Sorry for the lengthly reply but you know I have to reply to everything/oneWonder where Raeh is again actually...?
Btw poohbear! Sorry to hear you've not been too good. Hope you're feeling more able soon!"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

veggies must be hidden in shepperds pie, it is the only way, just does not work right, or look right with veg served up on the side.
did i mention that my (scaredy) cat has finally, suddenly, out of the blue learnt to use her cat flap? its only taken 5 months of watching the other cat in amazement.
hope you all had a good nights sleep0
