I know it's only early but I've had quite a good day so far. I won £1 on one of my free scratchcards (£1.55 overall), and vernons got validated on quidco. I was a bit worried it wouldn't get validated as I had to raise a ticket. Nothing is showing on quidco as paid at the moment, it's all validated, but I'm due about £50 at some point soon. I'm hoping some of it will switch to paid before the end of the month but I think it's unlikely.

I'm also STILL waiting for my points to be added on global test market. I've had enough to points to get a £25ish cheque for nearly three weeks but they are being added really slowly.

I want to have a productive day so I've applied for a christmas job at boots, but their application form is rubbish. It only gives you the opportunity to write in your last job, so I had to write pensions administrator which gives them no idea that I worked in retail for a bit over two years when I was at college. Argh . I'd be surprised if they get in touch. I'm going to list the odd thing on gumtree today hopefully, at the moment I'm doing temp work as and when it comes up so I don't really have any guaranteed income which I don't like, though I do have £82 in tax to claim back.

I've decided I want to put at least £1 in my ISA every time I post on here (hopefully daily), so I've just transferred £1 over.

I'm so cold today! I don't have a lot to report but I've shifted my £1 for today into my ISA. Tomorrow I should be able to move £10 over. Often when I earn vouchers I get Arcadia ones and sell them to my sister for the cash as she spends so much in Topshop. Yesterday she sent me £30 using internet banking, £10 of which was for a voucher, so that will go in tomorrow.

In other news I've changed the electric supplier for my dad, I'm also praying that house prices continue to fall. Basically, a clause in my parents divorce means that my mum doesn't get any of the equity in the house until my brother reaches 18 and leaves education. He had his 18th on the 16th of this month, so basically my dad has until July or so to either pay my mum off or sell the house. Obviously given the current state of house prices this would be a bit of a disaster for my dad who I can almost guarantee given his age and income wouldn't be able to get a high enough mortgage to get another house, and would probably end up on housing benefit quite quickly as rent for a one person flat around here is about £600, which is over £200 more than his interest only mortgage.

The problem is that although my mum is happy not getting the money until we choose to move, she receives housing benefit as she is on a low income and has to look after my little sister so can only work when she isn't as school. The council where she lives state that she has a claim on the house and won't give her housing benefit after July, which will either force my dad to move or pay her off. If my dad can't afford to pay her off both of my parents will almost certainly eventually end up on housing benefit in the long run which is a ridiculous situation. I feel awful for my dad because he has worked so hard (I mean frequently working 80 hour weeks because his hourly pay was so poor we needed it to survive), and now he is having the only thing he had taken away. At the moment the mortgage is about £100,000, and the house is worth in the region of £165-170,000. The less equity my parents have the better, as it means the less my dad has to give my mum, and the less chance me, my brother, sister and my dad have of being thrown out of our house.

My dad got made redunadant after 25 years recently, he has his last day at the beginning of November. The mortgage needs to be renewed in December which is scary enough, as god knows what will happen if he doesn't find another job soon. I'm really worried about him being able to find another job as he was raised in care, and as a consequence had a dreadful education. He didn't sit any exams so he doesn't have a single qualification, and he isn't exactly the most articulate person I know. I even have to fill forms out for him because he doesn't know what to do, and his spelling is awful.

Sorry this turned into a ramble about my dad, but this has been playing on my mind since April. I know things happen that we can't always control, but I've had so much stress for one reason or another since I was about 10. I've just had enough of it. I'm actually starting to go grey which is ridiculous for a 22 year old :(.

    Good luck with future mortgage.

The key point is that lender crave stability. The longer in a job, and residence the better. They like people who are on the voters role. They dislike people who flit about as they see this as a sign of someone more likely to default.

    Thanks Conrad,

We've lived in the same house for over 20 years, my dad has been on the electoral role for the same period, and as I say he was in his job for 25 years. I'm just worried what will happen if he doesn't find a new job soon. He has never had a credit card or been in debt other than the odd buy now pay later, which he has always paid back in full and on time, in theory his credit rating should be quite good. Fingers corssed :).

    Morning everyone.

Last night I started an AS human biology course. I applied for it in the summer but didn't hear anything until Wednesday asking why I hadn't been there for the last 5 weeks. They hadn't contacted me to tell me I had a place, but I'm going to try and catch up. I seemed to remember a lot (haven't done any biology for 6 years), but it does mean that I need to buy a text book. My boyfriend works in the uni bookshop until the 15th when he starts his 'real' job, so he's going to get me it at 35% discount. Every little helps...

I've moved the £10 that I mentioned yesterday into my ISA, and I got £2 via paypal from lightspeed yesterday so I've added that to my total. I have about £27 in my paypal account at the moment, most of which will probably end up in my ISA. I wish withdrawals were free for any amount like they are in the US.

I'm going to see somone from the temp agency around 10 to run through a job description with them. The job seems good, but they are interviewing for it on Wednesday and wanted to meet me before they put me forward for an interview as I normally deal with a different lady at the agency. The job was also put up on the reed website yesterday, it has 8 applications so far so I don't hold out much hope as I have no experience, but I'll go along regardless. Sometimes I feel like I'm completely unemployable :(. I just want a job!

I'm running out of money at the moment so need work soon. I've got £82 to claim back in tax, I was hoping I would get it automatically today but that hasn't happened so I'll try and get a number for the agency tax office. I did ask about it before but the lady I was speaking to didn't have a clue so I thought I'd wait til now. Nevermind, looks like I will have to chase it...this could be fun.

Thanks Maria :). I didn't update yesterday, but I did move £1 into my ISA and £3 today, so I'll update my total. I spent £4 on unnecessary food yesterday which was a bit naughty, and £12 on a hot water bottle. I haven't spent £12 on anything in ages, I'm getting so tight... I need the hot water bottle though because my dad can't really afford to have the heating on much and I'm always cold. I have a sore throat and am a bit sniffley & sneezy so I think I might be getting a cold :(.

I hope everyone remembered the clocks go back today :).

Morning everyone, I'm glad it's sunny again today :).

Everyone in my house seems to be ill, but I seem a bit healthier than I was yesterday so I'm hoping I don't get ill from them again. I was an idiot and missed my flu jab this year, so if I get a bad cold I'll likely end up with a chest infection which is the last thing I need.

The job that the agency called me about was also put on the Reed website and has had 22 applications so far, that's without anyone the agency wants to put forward. Now I know that there is basically no chance of me getting it (the online ad says to apply if you have reception experience which I don't have) as I can't compete with that many experienced people I'm kind of hoping I don't get an interview purely because I don't want to lose the money I'll have to spend on travel (which, to be honest, I can't afford to lose). I was an idiot and forgot to ask for a payroll number when I went to see the agency on Friday, so I'm going to call and ask about that today, though I don't have much hope of getting the money this Friday.

In better news I've made another two etsy sales which have made me about £13.80 after fees and postage. I have £43 in my paypal account now, so I'm hoping that when a locket I'm selling ends on ebay in 2 days I'll get the £7 I need to withdraw.

I've also shifted £1.85 into my ISA today, so I've updated my total accordingly.

    Morning everyone,

I didn't update yesterday, but I did put £1 in my ISA, and another £1.36 in there today. I called the temp agency about my tax issue, they said they'd get back to me when they know anything but I'm not holding my breath. They won't let me talk to the payroll people myself so I suspect I'll be waiting ages. I went to Croydon yesterday to meet my friend, but I only spent £1.75 on food and £6 on an ipod case which I needed to buy for my sister as a christmas present so that wasn't too bad. Oh, and the train fare. That was £4.50 but I was expecting about £5 so I saved a little bit there too.

This morning I've withdrawn £10 from one of my scratchcards so I've added that to my total, and I've also redeemed some of my global test market points as they have finally been added. With the exchange rate being what it is I'm expecting to get about £28ish, so all in all around £40 free money today isn't bad. I'll add that to my total when I receive the cheque and know the exact amount.
