Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I don't have time to conduct a thorough search of all the previous postings.

    My question is very simple.

Will the money paid back to Icesave investors include the interest owed up to and including the date of repayment, or will it simply be the original capital sum?

Nobody is 100% sure yet - a case of 'wait and see'. Most likely is that interest will be paid to the point where Icesave went into default. Hence the enthusiasm to get the cash back ASAP as it isn't earning interest at the moment!

It's a setting somewhere under 'User CP' (in blue near the top of the page).

The prevalent school of thought is that interest will only be paid only upto the date of default (8 Oct).

However there are reports that ppl with fixed term deposits will receive the full amount (including the full interest) but not until the expiry date of the original contract. There is some uncertainty as to whether this will also apply to ppl who have term deposits which pay interest monthly, but there have been reports that it does.

Most of this is backed up by statements from the FSCS website, but many people have expressed views that the different treatments are unfair. The Director of Claims at the FSCS is reported to be 'listening to feedback' about payment of interest, so all of this is subject to change. In short, nobody knows with 100% certainty.

And yes, it has been covered elsewhere. Many many times. Can't you find time to read through the information already provided for your benefit?. Isn't it worth it?

See #8 with regard to INTEREST. This infers it will be payable up to date of default i.e. you get it for overnight 7th October.

On today's BBCs working lunch they said that we would hear by the end of the week including a timetable for payouts

Presumeably some Scottish depositors must have been caught out by Icesave`s demise. Now if some of them lived in a key constituency critical to the government, about to vote on 6th November 2008 and still waiting to hear about or receive their money...

    Hello everybody.
Just received back my KE savings yesterday, after a long and very stressing 2 weeks waiting. I feel relieved, all my savings were split between the two icelandic banks so at least now I have some of my money back to count on.
And now on to Icesave then...
Does anybody know whether I should contact the FCSC with my Icesave account details/transaction details or just wait for them to contact me?
    Thank you

    lu

Got mine back too and I'm so relieved. Still got £20k tied up in Icesave and could do with it back sooner rather than later. I'm not too concerned though as the FSCS seem to have indicated that they are trying to simplify the claim process and will give more news on this later this week. The KE tranfer issues are well on the way to being fully resolved and we've no reason to believe the Icesave thing will go sour especially given the assurances given by the Government.
