    Evening peeps,

dinner has been eaten and i feel well stuffed, the chow mein was well worth waiting for and we really enjoyed it, i couldn`t find the piece of paper with the recipe on so i had to put the laptop on as i knew that there was a copy on here.

I didn`t get a nap this afternoon as i`ve had really bad heartburn and it bothered me too much to relax so instead i started sewing some curtains.

I went through lots of boxes from the last house and found two pairs of matching curtains so i shall have a go at altering those to fit, if this dosen`t work then i shall definitely be buying new ones. I`m glad that i didn`t run out and buy any yesterday as it gives me the chance to try and make something last a bit longer.

Snowyowl - Congratulations on your new job, sorry to hear about poor little Dylan though, fingers crossed that he will be ok poor little mite.

Churchmouse - Happy Anniversary to both of you! Hope you had a nice trip.

Rage in Eden - I can just imagine the smile on your face when you read the email :rotfl:

I`m off back into the kitchen so i shall catch up soon.
    Have a good evening everyone.

((SnowyOwl)) - thinking of you with Dylan.

Cold here and have switched heating on for one hour - eeeeeeeek!

Tea was corned beef hash, carrots and Brussels. Left overs for tomorrow. Yum.

Made a real mix up of food for my tea last night - kind of spaghetti carbonara, except it had no ham/ bacon, nor eggs, but was a sauteed mix of leeks, garlic and carrots, then added more butter and flour and made up a sauce, added cheese, then added to cooked spag. It was soooo delicious and something I'll do again. I finished off with microwaved peach slices - the peaches are horrible and tasteless (teaches me not to buy out of season, especially as I watch good old Valentine) - when hot it was really lovely and sweet. All the threads on here about managing on 50p a day, £20 a month etc have really motivated me not to throw anything out. Yippeee

    Evening everyone

Hope everybody that was feeling poorly today feels a little better now.Penpin glad the hospital appointment wasn't too horrific. But totally confused by your comments of how fast the blood was flowing. Is that good or bad?

Candygirl I'm a little late with my condolences but they are still heart felt

Been an odd sort of day here as hubby got up feeling decidedly under the weather so much so that he had to ring in work sick.I dont know about anyone else but I cant get much done with him at home so I headed off to the kitchen to do some work and left him and our 3yr old engrossed in cartoons:rotfl:

Got a big bag of onions from the local asian grocers I usually go for the 10kg bags but they only had the 25kg ones. They are so cheap though that I just had to get one. Also got six large cucumbers for £2 so I've been peeling chopping and salting cucumbers and onions ready for pickling tomorrow.I also used up a couple of sad neglected mangoes and made some ice cream with them which turned out so rich and delicious.

We had Spag Bol for tea and theres some left so I reckon I can stick another tin of tomatoes into it tomorrow and make it into a Lasagne.Normally I'd freeze it but both my freezers are crammed

Footie is on tonight so I think I'll hide in the corner of the sofa with my i-pod on and crocheting:D

    Evening everybody :hello:

Feeling a bit rubbish today. Just got over a stinking head-cold a bit over a week ago, and now I have another bug. I nearly rang in sick this morning, but we have a really high workload at the minute and my team consists of only me and my boss, so unless my head drops off I'm carrying on as normal :D

I've got a pan of chilli on the stove. I've already had my tea, but this is for the freezer. I would normally include fresh coriander and red wine, but didn't have any coriander (and was determined to have a no spend day) and didn't want to open any wine (because I know I'd polish off the bottle once I'd opened it!)

My telly's playing up  - it's been going funny for ages, but it seems to be getting worse. It's under warranty (Richer Sounds do really good value 5-year warranties) - but I need to find the warranty document before I can get it sorted :o

Penny-Pincher - glad you're home safe from the hospital, and I hope they manage to stabilise your blood.
    Churchmouse - happy anniversary!
redruby - Photocopies are done - goodies will be on their way very soon ;)
Snowy - sorry little Dylan is not well :(
    joannasmum - Happy Birthday! :bdaycake:

Right, the telly still isn't giving me a picture, so I'm off to watch Jamie's Ministry of Food in my bedroom, thanks to the portable TV I got off Freecycle recently :)

    Rzl xx

Just a quick one to wish the Churchrats :D a happy anniversary. I expect you got a medal for a present. ;)

Snowy I hope Dylan pulls through ok. He doesn't sound in good shape the poor thing. Thats great news about your job. The dr was from around Dublin.
    joannasmum Happy Birthday

Had a bit of a wild storm last night. Power went out, so went to bed early. ;) Picked quite a few cucumbers yesterday arv so plans on making bread & butter pickles as well as some cereal before DGS arrives after lunch. I'd like to mow sometime as well. Sleep well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I love the OS board and its really helping me not to waste things and also to be greener living. And will hopefully help with my finances.

I had my flu jab today, I've got asthma and I'm also a nurse so didnt want to take any chances over the winter.

I'm on holiday this week, so I've been changing curtains, cleaning windows, washing bedding etc.

I made a chocolate cake tonight, was a bit of a disaster, I'm learning. My DS said it tasted like puff candy. xx

  • Went to the 'trade fair ' at a local hotel. It was a hoot as it was a german chap who didn't speak a word of english, but had a translator to help him. He was selling those special matresses that mold to your body. Only £1600.00 a pop. Needless to say I didn't buy one but got the freebie box of goodies which contained
a bottle of vino (Argentinian) but O.K. for cooking I guess,
a big bag of pasta ,
a bar of german milk chocolate and
a Stollen something or other which I think is some sort of cake as its sealed in a gold foil paper and feels a bit like sponge cake.Plus a free meal thrown in all for listening to this guys spiel about a mattress.Plus a wicked looking carving knife all boxed up,
so there goes another Christmas pressie for someone.Rewarding morning all round really. This afternoon I went to craft class and made my gorgeous grandsons 18th birthday card for next month .Fingers crossed everyone he takes his driving test this Thursday
Came home to my lovely beef bourginon melt in the mouth from my SC Had two portions left over which I have frozen for next week.Pretty good day all round. Just off to have a read in bed Night Night all
