Excellent drying day here - got a whole line full dried whilst I was at work this morning and am hopeful I might get a 2nd one done this afternoon.
Was prevented from reading yesterdays thread by a Very Good Book (actually I did nothing except go to work and produce a very scratch meal for dinner) but have been very good today....washing is up to date, bread rolls stuffed with cheese are rising in the remoska, stew is ready for dinner, have been to work, vacuumed and dusted downstairs and will go and make some cakes and/or flapjacks as soon as the bread has baked and the remoska is empty.
Breakfast - HM cheese pancakes with baked beans
Packed lunches - ham sandwiches, last of the wedding cake, fruit and carrot sticks
Dinner - stew with mashed potatoes and brocolli followed by apple crumble & HM yogurt
DH payday today so must go do the household monthly accounts and pay some bills before doctors appointment this afternoon.

Squiggly, I got the recipe from on here too, but I add half white and half brown sugar, and add two tablespoons of golden syrup, I then make them into small balls about the size of a 1/2 ping pong ball and cook, they sort of spread across the baking sheet, I then let cool and cut up, it might be worth a try, let me know how you get on x
Thank you for that, I'll try that instead - hopefully syrup will help the chewiness? Not sure if I will manage today after all as I've been on a bit of a roll with the research proposal (once I got myself off facebook, lol).
snowy, congratulations on the job!! That's great news
RageInEden, have you stopped laughing hysterically yet...?!? I would be telling her exactly where to go...
Got some YS special-fried rice in Asda this morning for 45p, so will be having that for lunch in a minute (oops, nearly 2pm already?!?!) and a bit of left-over chili con carne.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Morning darlings!
It is a lovely sunny day here - such a change after the storms of yesterday. I am intending to spend a couple of hours out in the garden getting it all ready for winter and planting out my winter pansies and garlic. Have lots more chillis to harvest too which always makes me smile.
N9eav - reading about you making the lead weights brought back all sorts of memories for me of my Grandad doing the same in his shed. I had to sit in the corner and not leave my chair and then I was allowed to watch him down the other end of the shed (which seemed enormous to me) making his weights for fishing. I doubt in this day and age whether I would be allowed to, but back then, as long as I sat where he put meJoannasmum
Snowy - congratulations on the job and give Dylan a cuddle from me.
Thriftlady and Snowyowl - I am also a punctuation/spelling control freak. Even in my chat room I have to sit on my hands to stop myself from correcting others appalling spelling and I hate all that text talk/short cut 'speak'. I spell everything out in full on my texts, much to the amusement of everyone else... I have a feeling that you ladies are probably the same!
churchmouse - I hope you enjoyed your break away and happy anniversary hon.
Dinner today will be fish pie, pollock, king prawns and smoked haddock. Sounds really exotic doesn't it? But the prawns were whoopsied, the pollock was on offer in Lidls and the smoked haddock was on special offer and a treat for us. I also have cheese sauce sachets left from my pre-OS days and will add mushrooms and broccolli. Topped with mash and a sprinkle of cheese and it should be lovely. Been a long time since I made one though so I am winging it a bit!I am cooking mine in my silicon cookware too Mummysaver..
Cheese, onion, grated carrot and mayo sandwiches again for lunch with bread from the BM. Yum!to all who need them today and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Afternoon all.
Happy birthday Joannasmum.
Happy anniversary Churchmouse & Mr CM.
SnowyOwl I hope the vet can get Dylan sorted out; I hate to think of animals in pain, and the poor little chap must be feeling rotten.
Not much OS here today, as I’m feeling pretty rough – my chesty cough has come back with a vengeance. Mr LW is working from home tomorrow, so I’ll rest today and hopefully be able to do more then.
We will be having veggie stew as planned for dins, as Mr LW kindly prepared the root veggies this morning before he went to work, so I only have to chuck everything in the cauldron and make some dumplings.:o
I have also decided that we could do with some new cushions - and as Mr LW recently bought me a little sewing machine, I think I shall try making the covers myself, as a sort of "teach-yourself-sewing" exercise.
Hope everyone's having a good day.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I'm supposed to be writing an assignment as well.
This board is much more interesting than 'Teaching and Assessing students'
I think I'm doing what is called 'avoidence technique' ,anything rather than study!!!!
It's getting hard to wade through the dust here !
