I love the world of MSE I don't have to acknowledge the exsistance of my horrible 17 yr old off spring who spends 95% of the time ranting about how hard he has it & 5% wanting me to give him evrything he wants cos then he will stop moaning!!!
long may it continue (mse that is not my sons moaning!!)

Sorry to tell you but even when they're twice that age and live hundreds of miles away they still moan and claim hard done by.(lol)

    :rotfl: Tell me about it!!

I've just come back for a 'quick' look around while I eat my brunch and told myself I will log out the minute I finish, and get on with my assignment!

And I'll have to now I've said that!

    Morning all,

Slept until 8 this morning, dressed in 'painting' clothes and have now decided that I will finish putting things away and re-arrange kitchen and then attack the ceiling to-morrow...I could paint walls forever but ceilings wreck my head.

Spaghetti bolognese for dinner, DGS' choice as it is his birthday to-day, so must grate mountains of smelly (Parmesan to the rest of us) cheese. Was going to make him a cake but DD4 is home this morning and is doing that so I won't complain as I'm not in a baking mood to-day.

Happy birthday Joannasmum, have a good one:bdaycake:.

Tidied my computer desk, did a little paperwork this morning so feeling good about that...Ulick is currently in kitchen concocting something for lunch, so will stay out of there until he and DD4 have vacated...even though its big I prefer to have it to myself when tidying.

Still knitting for the Christmas gift pile and bought a nice pot yesterday for DD1 who will be moving into her first house soon, going to plant with bulbs so that she will have something for outside her front door come spring.

Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to any newbies to-day, where are you MIA lot and congratulations to all who are celebrating

    Hello everyone

Happy birthday Joannasmum! Enjoy your Nigella cookbook.

Thriftlady, for what it's worth, I'm with you on the spelling thing - OK some people just don't have the knack, but spell checkers really do encourage laziness and an awful lot of them are American spellings anyway, eg color, pediatric, humor, skeptic. I'm a bit bah humbug about it (or grumpy old woman).

Wee baby Dylan is back in the hospital today getting a bum wash (enema). He hasn't done any poops so the vet is going to give him a pressure wash and blow dry - a good covering of wax would be helpful but I don't think that's part of the process. Oh I know it's not funny I am almost sick with worry. Dylan just has to get better, he's only three and he's such a sweet loving wee darling.

I start another job on Monday, woohoo. It's in a civil service based role and is a maternity cover. I applied for it in June, have been for a test (maths and without a calculator:eek:), an interview and a medical - now at last I've got the offer. Hurrah, I really needed some good news and I needed this week off to get Dylan sorted, so things are suddenly rosy (bar Dylan's illness of course).

I had a sleepless night, thanks mostly to the gorgeous vegetable soup bubbling away in the slow cooker. It makes the house smell divine, and I've been known to get out of bed in the past as the aroma has made me feel ravenous. Anyhow, I didn't put enough liquid in, but the chunks of veg were quite big and are all cooked and still whole - so I've inadvertently made myself a veggie stew - butternut squash, parsnip, onion, garlic, red lentils. Yummilicious!!

It's quite sunny today I'll have a go at putting washing out in my north facing garden but suspect it'll have to come inside to dry as it's very cold here.

Wasn't that accident on the motorway absolutely terrible. Those poor people.

    Well, gotta go.

    Be good everyone

  • Hello everybody :hello: and Happy Birthday Johannas Mum :bdaycake: and to all in need :grouphug:

Well, not much doing today. Just put the stuff down the sink as it keeps blocking and now going out to the market whilst Kim'n'Aggies potion does it's work. Done some digital and this p.m. hoping (if I don't get distracted) to take some photos for e-bay. You will not guess what was in my in box this morning - an apology from my ex-consultant! Too late..... Also she says "we could meet up for a drink" - wow the amount of flying pigs I get 'round here is amazing :D Right postie's arrived let's see if there are any e-bay cheques in it! Enjoy the rest of the day OS's!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

    Afternoon all:D

I've just *flown through* the last few day's threads as I've been away on a mini break. Nobody noticed, oh well:p

Condolences to candygirl, sorry to hear you lost your Dad. ((hugs))to you and Mum.
Belated Happy Birthday to Penny Penguin:beer:

    Happy Birthday today to joannasmum:beer:

:j :j Snowy, brilliant news about the job, well done you:D Hope the vet manages to sort out Dylan (beautiful name;) )

Well there has been no OS while I was on hols, and there won't be any today except for bunging some washing in the machine. It's our Wedding Anniversary, and as I don't feel like going out tonight now, I'm going to let Waitrose or M&S do the honours, just haven't decided which yet :D

    Bye, CM x

RR, I got the cookie recipe from here for the Millie's type ones, but mine seemed to come out "fluffy" rather than flat & (eventually) chewy. Not sure why - might have another go today. .

Squiggly, I got the recipe from on here too, but I add half white and half brown sugar, and add two tablespoons of golden syrup, I then make them into small balls about the size of a 1/2 ping pong ball and cook, they sort of spread across the baking sheet, I then let cool and cut up, it might be worth a try, let me know how you get on x

Washing machine has finished so need to go and hang stuff out on the line.

Have some chicken thighs in the slow cooker and might turn them into chicken chow mein tonight.

Want to make a French loaf in the Panny and have have just had a cooked brunch in the moski. If I defrost the hobnob mix in the freezer I could bake some tonight really easily.

Still need to go and pick up a prescription and see if the oil lamp is still in the charity shop.

Presents for DDs for birthday and Christmas have just arrived from Amazon and I am really pleased with them, especially with up to 70% sale prices!

Must make up the spare bed as I am hoping DD might make a surprise visit this week for a couple of days.

    Hester

Good luck with elf and safety

Nipping off to hang washing, load BM and try to look busy!!!;)

    Big hug to everyone

    Good afternoon!

Glorious sunshine here today, it's lovely!

Went off to see a friend this morning, so have only just put BM and yoghurt on -yesterday's all got eaten so not tried the soft cheese yet! Did hoover and swish and swipe the kitchen before I went though!

Made a quick batch of crab apple jelly, needs more chillies though so will add extra to the next lot, might try a pinch of ground ones! Got some reduced peaches last night, 10p a punnet, so got 4 and going to make some peach conserve in a bit.

Still loads and loads of reductions at work, got toms and celery for 7p a pack and some sausages reduced to 45p from £3, bargains galore! Surely things can't carry on like this?!

Have done some ironing, still plenty left if anyone fancies nipping round to help me! Cooked up the £2 frozen pollock from Lidl's in moski and have topped with mash and frozen as individual fish pies, cats were in a frenzy at the smell!

Got some of the silicone bakeware from Lidl's yesterday, and also a tin for making individual flans, should be fun to have a go with them! Grabbed some of their cheap caulis as well, and red onions and leeks, how come Lidl and Aldi can sell veg so cheap compared to elsewhere, I know the bits I bought were on offer, but I can't see why the supermarkets can't do special offers that actually are special!

Just as well I got the cauli, dd2's cookery lesson this week is how to make curry, they were told to take in a large potato, a cauli or some broccoli, and onion and a tin of toms. I'm hoping that the school is providing some spices, but won't be holding my breath after last weeks chilli pasta contained neither chilli nor pasta! On the bright side they didn't have to take in the veg pre chopped this week.

    Brekkie was cereal/toast.
Lunch was sarnies, fruit, yoghurt, hobnob and celery and cheese dip for the kids, soup from the freezer for me (celery today).
Dinner will be turkey steaks which didn't get used yesterday cos dd1 made pizza.

Off to have a quick mooch and a catch up now, hugs to Candy and Marie and anyone else in need, and happy birthday Joanna's mum! xx

    Edit:

Snowy - congratulations on the job and I hope Dylan feels better after his wash and blow dry!

churchmouse - hope you enjoyed your break and happy anniversary!

Sybil - some charities will collect stuff, would this be any help to you? Well done on clearing out so much stuff though, I just can't seem to part with books, they're everywhere!

Rage in Eden - how thoughtful of your ex consultant to be prepared to find some time in her so busy you couldn't understand schedule to invite you for a drink, lol! Perhaps you should tell her you're too busy to accept!
