It keeps starting and stopping. I'm not sure of the problem, but it's none of the scarts/leads that also go into the Freeview box as that has been working fine.

When I get the new box, i'm a little concerned now as I bought one with no leads as I already had them.

The telephone line lead - will that come with it or does the one in the back of my current one come out? And what about the big white lead?

Concerned now as didn't get one with leads :o

Your old leads should be fine. I recently replaced my Sky plus box, and used the existing leads

Hopefully all will work out. I do tend to worry when things need replacing as I am not technically advanced :o

Indeed, your existing leads will be fine, you do not need to have your phone line connected, unless you use the one off, paid for services.

If you have any problems, just come on here, someone will give you help/advice.

Good good. I didn't realise there were so many leads.

I don't think my phone is connected right now anyway. Whenever the box goes wrong and I switch it back on it says 'telephone line not connected'. I'm on a package that costs £22 - no sports or movies or premium channels and I don't use Sky Box Office.

I shall come on here if any issues. I've had so many down the years with PC/Connecting up things that MSE is my first port of call as everything has always been fixed by the helpful folk here :)

Without you all i'd be watching black and white TV, using windows 98 and still using audio cassettes :o

Are you still within your 12 months contract?

No. Had Sky since late 1999.

Got up today, wasn't working. Unplugged, waited 30 seconds, plugged back in, been working ever since.

Apparently it went wrong not long after I went to bed last night, according to flatmate, so still works sometimes, not others.

I was wondering if I can call Sky and use the 'loyal customer' card :rotfl:

You could try going through to cancellations at Sky (no point in having the contract with a dodgy box is there ;) ) and I would think there's a good chance you'd get a Sky+ box for nothing or perhaps a £30 install.

I don't know if the LNB (the thing that points at the dish outside to pick up the signal) can cause the sort of problem your getting but if so it would mean you'll get the same problem with the new box you've bought. I guess you may as well wait until you get it now and see how it goes.

If it did still play up and you try and go for a Sky+ box they should fit a new LNB for you at the same time so you'll definately be ok then.

You would be entitled to join as a new customer, but that would mean another 12 months contract. You could call Sky and ask to be put through to there winback dept to see what they can offer you to come back.
