  • Spoken to a couple of people at ING who really know very little. 'Jimmy' told me that a small number of transfers would be put through today and at the latest would be seen in my account tomorrow morning. He told me the same thing on Friday!! He then transferred me to someone else who informed me that if my transfer fell within the 5% mentioned in their web site message they would be contacting me this afternoon either by email or by telephone. These are what they are terming 'manual payments'.
It is fairly obvious that none of the people fielding these calls have any definitive information and are really only giving out general information as supplied by their bosses. They again reassured me that my money was safe but if they haven't got the full story, it occurs to me that the promise may be an empty one.
What is frustrating is that no-one seems to be able to provide dead-lines or solid information based on account names, numbers or transfer confirmation details which I guess we all have.

I have spoken to KE this morning. They have no idea when I am to receive my payment. The yonly know themselves what appears on the link at the KE website.

They couldn't give me anyone else to talk to regarding it (or wouldn't). I am pursuing a formal complaint via KE and then to the FSA/FOM.

    MARTIN!!!

Where are you during all of this, WE NEED YOU!!!! We need you to do your thing and get on that phone TV screen and do what you do best.

    I'm begging you, I can't pay my bills. :(

Im right here! Its my name at the top of this post. My team and I promised we'd work on this from today for all who hadn't got their money.

As for screeming on TV, to be honest I dont think that would be that productive at the moment (nor that easy to interest any channel in). The FSA, APACs & ING are all on this, this isn't a "no one cares" its a "they're struggling to sort it". My TV screeming is generally to get PEOPLE to act and look after themselves not vice-versa.

The best approach here is working with them and providing a conduit for info and lobbying for speed - that is generally much more productive in these cases.

But rest assured this is high on our agenda and we'll do all we can to help.

  • Just spoke with Alastair Hemmings (Customer Relations Manager ING)
I requested a face to face meeting with him - He has suggested it would better for me to meet with one of his collegues - Martin Rutland - They are going to call me back later today. - He asssured me my money was not lost - and as I reminded him - I have heard all this before.

The earliest I can get to TVP in Reading is Thursday this week - I will be turning up in a clowns outfit as it seems it's a bit of a circus they work for.

I still believe ING are unaware of our early CHAPS payments hence why nonoe has received a phone call or email! ING are obviously aware of the later BACS payments hence why some people have received an email.
It will be interesting to see if 1. Anyone from the early CHAPS has received their money by close of business today and 2. If anyone has received an email or phone call.

If none of the above time to panic!
    CHAPS 8th received 20th into HSBC A/C
BACS on the 17th and 20th received 22nd into HSBC A/C
    CHAPS fee refunded 29/10
I can survive any crisis - I have kids!!

    .

5% of 160,000 customers is around 8000, that's a lot of telephone calls! I wonder how many people are actually going to be on these phonelines? Care to update us ING or Kaupthing Edge?

I sent this email out earlier to:

    Newsdesks at:

    BBC
    ITN
    CH4

    FIVE
    SKY

    And

    Working Lunch:

    Dear ****

I am one of over 100 savers who are still waiting for nearly £4,000,000, which was taken out of our accounts at the Kaupthing Edge UK bank during the week they collapsed. The majority of these transfers were CHAPS, which should have reached our linked destination accounts on the same day.

ING were given £2.5 Billion pounds by our Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, to handle the FSCS payouts to Kaupthing Edge UK customers. Most of the BACS transfers have completed successfully but our CHAPS transfers are hanging in no-man’s-land, between banks, after paying £20 for a same-day transfer.

Nearly two weeks have gone by and there have been many re-assuring announcements from, plus phone calls and emails to ING but not one CHAPS transfer has come through. Some people are completing on houses and are left hanging in mid air; others have bills to pay and are now dipping into credit cards.

We are becoming very worried and angry. This is not just an undelivered washing machine or three piece suite, for many people, it’s their whole life’s savings.

According to Mike at ING. There were 166,000 transactions and 5% still to resolve (8300)
