I have now received £31.5k which I requested on the 8th. Unfortunately I have been charged twice for CHAPS charges. Has anyone else been double charged?
Yes, many of us have been. ING have said several times that they'll refund CHAPS charges, and I think the general feeling is not to take this up with them until those who're still waiting for their money have gotten it (so as not to risk delaying their payments). Everyone will have their money by Friday, ING says, so we'll probably start taking this up next week.

I'm personally so relieved about getting the money back that I'm not particularly bothered about the CHAPS charges, but in any event, it's probably best to wait till next week and stay focused this week on those who're still waiting for their transfers to come through.
CHAPS to Natwest: sent 9/10, RECEIVED 22/10 at 16.35
  • Nothing for me yet :-(

Bacs 26/9 - but KE had wrong sort code to linked bank acc - not rec'd yet
    chaps 15/10 - not rec'd yet
  • God knows what time it came yesterday, after 9pm when I last checked, but with yesterday's date, mine and thankfully Mum's aswell both arrived. PHEW!
Don't want to sound like I'm rubbing it in for those still waiting - I know it won't make you feel better but I am thinking of you for what its worth.
    Don't give in.

Don't think so OTR, she posted earlier to say no and not seen a post from her since. I really hope there will be a flurry of happy posts soon

The first place I looked for help was the Banking Code. It doesn't even mention "CHAPS". For BACS it merely refers to the normal amount of time such payments take. There's no penalties for late payments. So forget about that.

Another completely useless avenue is the "Financial Ombudsman". If you don't believe me, try it. They are the biggest joke under the sun. All they may do is pass brief details of your complaint to the bank via some form, and tell you that if you are still unsatisfied after 8 weeks (yes 8 weeks) you can get back to them to see if they can do any more. When you tell them that this action is totally useless and that they may as well not exist, they read out a prepared script telling you they're not policemen of the banking industry, etc.

Sadly you're probably right, but might still be worth investigating when all have money back.
What we CAN do,of course,is vote with our savings,go somewhere else and tell as many people as possible what has happened.

As PR disasters go, ING's handling of this makes Gerald Ratner's famous"all our jewellery is crap" gaff look like an innocuous throw-away line!!!

im waiting for £28k from heritable - is anyone else having trouble with them as well?

I have (had) a 35k HERITABLE postal savings a/c with the interest paid to my nominated bank a/c

I received a standard welcome letter last Friday from ING to say the HERITABLE a/c was now safe with ING

I also got my monthly interest as normal paid to my nominated a/c since
