    Hi,

I've just managed to reclaim back some credit card charges from two companies which will be deducted from my current balances. Do I need to let CCCS know to make sure my balances with you are updated?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

Would they be able to gain access to my home to retrieve the items?

I have a counselling session in two weeks time, so i am unsure what to do about BrightHouse in the meantime.

They would need to apply for a court order and have this granted before they could enter your property.

We will cover this off on your appointment.

We are currently setting up our DMP which starts in July through CCCS and are looking at moving our bank accounts - in our DMP is a overdraft with Alliance and Leicester for £950 and a overdraft with Barclays for £2,000 - looking at setting up a new bank account with Abbey - is this bank linked to A&L or Barclays? If so who could we go with? Partner has an unused account already with LloydsTSB so can't use them I don't think. Our children have accounts with HSBC so not sure if we can use them. Thanks

Hi harriscO and thank you for your message

The Alliance and Leicester and Abbey are linked with Santander banks.

The banks seem to be changing all the time so it is difficult to keep up with the changes. I have attached a link to a booklet which gives a list of all the basic accounts you could try.

As far as I am aware, the Coop does not have any links,so you could try them.

    Hi,
Hope someone can help me. I am paying off my debts as quickly as I can and hopefully should be debt free in the next 12 -18 months. I checked my credit report and found that I have 4 CCJ's against me. I never received paperwork/bailiff visit with regard to this and have looked into it and all 4 which total about £1200.00 are from one Company for one debt that they were chasing me for. I had defaulted on the loan, which is now paid back. Is this common practise for them to issue 4 CCJ's? This is being dealt with at Northampton county court, would they accept £15.00-£20.00 per month of each of the debts? I really want to clear my credit file up.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. J x

Did you have four different debts with the same company? And did you default on all four of them?

Let me know and then I can go into more detail for you

Just a quick question... I received my forms through at the weekend and will be sending everything off later today... but... do I also send letters through to my creditors already or not? The letter that I got from CCCS suggested that I should but I don't yet have a date for when my plan would start...?

    My account number is 1221678.

    Hi
If i were to telephone CCCS monday evening with all my details and a DMP was recommended, do you think it would be possible to get things moving quite quickly i.e. I send token payments to creditors this month or is that a bit too ambitious!

    Hi Crafty,

If a DMP was your best option then we would be able to get the ball rolling as soon as possible for you. DMP’s always start at the beginning of the month, so we could either get you started on the 1/05/09 or 1/06/09. I would recommend that you send your creditors a token payment and advise them you will be back in touch with them after your appointment

    hi there
i have just set up a dmp with payplan and been advised to change bank accounts most of the debt is with the bank in my husbands name but i have my own basic account at the same branch and have no debts with them
Im a bit worried about this offsetting can the bank take money from my account to pay my husbands debts as my wages are paid into it and we were considering using it for my husbands wages now any advice please as what i should do thanks

Hi jules61 and thank you for your message

If you have a joint bank account or you have any debt at all in your name with that bank and you are going on a reduced payment plan, then it is advisable to change to another bank, as the bank can use their “right of offset” to use money in the account to pay off their debt without consent.

By getting a basic bank account elsewhere, it puts you back in charge of your finances and prevents the bank from taking your money.

Quick query I am on a debt management plan with CCCS and just wondered if it is possible to reclaim bank charges if im on a DMP? Or would this go against me? Just thinking of wys toclear my debts quickly!

Sure you can! If you follow Martins step by step guide on this website. There is a hold on cases at the moment due to the test case, if you would like us to see if you fall into the hardship criteria we would be able to look at this as well for you. You would just need to email the CCCS via the contact us section on our website with your reference number.

    Hi Sarah,
It was for one debt, my overdraft with RBS which I did default on.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,

I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer.

My husband took out an advert with Yell.com to advertise his business. However the business never took off and he had to get a job. When Yell sent him a letter asking him to pay the full amount or they would pass it on to a debt collection agency, he contacted them and agreed to pay by 3 monthly installlments. The 1st he paid on the 31/03/09, the 2nd would be due on the 30/04/09. My husband is in Germany on business and should be back home some time later this evening. However, when I arrived home from work today there was a letter waiting for him from Moorcroft Debt Recovery saying he had to pay £989.70 in 7 days or he will be taken to court.

My question is, how can Yell pass it on to a Debt Agency when he has made an agreement with them and how can an outstanding bill of £115.00 increase to nearly £1000? I know that the 2nd payment is a little late but my husband couldn't pay it while away in Germany. This all seems very harsh to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jojo,

It would really depend on what was written in his contract unfortunately. If your husband disputes the amount, he could write them a letter asking them to put the account on hold and ask for a breakdown of the balance.

Once you have received a breakdown of the balance then we would be able to offer advice on what to do next. If it turns out he is liable for the full amount, he would be able to offer reduced payments based on his budget.
