That i may not be uncredit worthy for life! i have no desire to apply for any credit in the future but am worried that if i ever have to rent a place to live thay wouls check my credit rating. Ive also heard that if you have a credit card or loan that was taken out before 2007 you maybe able to have that debt written off if it was mis sold.Any Answers or advise would be so appreciated many thanks julia
Hi Julia,
Please call our helpline and have an appointment with a counsellor as soon as possible. We have a specialised mortgage counselling team that will be able to help you put together a budget and look at your long term options. Your counsellor will also be able to talk through what affect the different options will have on your credit file.
I have attached a link to the BBC website that explains about the credit card debt situation, you may find it useful http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7894840.stm
If you would like to book an appointment, please call 0800 138 1111.

I just got all my info through from CCCS sayiong they have accetedus & first payment is due 1st June. Do I still send token payments out for May (have sent them along with notifications of debt management letters for April)?
Also I have just received a letter from Egg - a default notice, it says I have until june 1st to pay full balance of £7k or it will be sent to a debt collector, should I be worried? (I am!)
Thanks
Hi icecube 2009 and thank you for your message
It is advisable to offer a token payment to your creditors until your plan is up and running so I would send them one for May.
Creditors are legally obliged to inform you if you fall into arrears on an agreement. The default notice is recorded on your credit file .
As long as you pay a token payment for May until your plan starts in June, you do not have to worry.

Hi
I've just started a DMP with CCCS to pay back approx 32k of Credit Card debts and a 10k loan. The repayment plan has been agreed with my creditors. If I started proceedings to reclaim my charges on these cards, could any of them close the account and demend immediate repayment? Or now they've agreed the repayment plan are they obliged to honour that provided I keep up my part of the bargain?
Also, I initiated proceeding to reclaim just over 2k of bank charges last year. I wrote recently and claimed hardship, but they have refused, saying that now I'm on the DMP my income and expenditure balance. Is it worth me countering this with another hardship claim? (I guess this may be on the wrong forum).

I would try again. You would be able to have an appointment with ourselves and we can make an assessment to see if you fall into the hardship criteria. If you do, we will be able to support your claim by sending a letter out to you to forward onto your bank. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please email us on contactus@cccs.co.uk with your reference number and we will arrange someone to call you.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Hope someone can help me...I had a mis-sold PPI policy by Carcraft & took them to the financial ombudsman, the case has been ongoing for over 18 months and yesterday I received their final decision, which says it has been foundin our favour....I do not understand it and was hoping someone could help me, this is the decision:-
Carcraft must....
A. arrange for the loan to be restructured (without charge to Mr & Mrs Tanner) so that
- any interest charges in respect of PPI (inc interest and charges) are cancelled and;
- the number and amount of any future payments (inc any interest and charges) are the same as would have applied if they had taken the loan without PPI
B. Calculate and pay Mr & Mrs Tanner the amount of net payment s the consumers will make up to the time of settlement in respect of the PPI (inc interest and charges) by comparing:
- the payments actually made
- the payments which woul have applied it the had taken the loan without PPI and
- add interest on each of these net payments at the rate of 8% per year simple from the date of each payment to the date the compensation is paid less any premium refund actually paid to them on cancellation of he policy and
C. set out in writing for MR & Mrs Tannerthe amount outstanding and the number and amount of any future payments under (A) and the details of the calculation under (B)
.....Thats it :-D
Hi Sammiejayne,
You would need to choose in what way you would like to be reimbursed for the insurance you have paid. You may want to try and re post on the PPI board.

Sure you can! If you follow Martins step by step guide on this website. There is a hold on cases at the moment due to the test case, if you would like us to see if you fall into the hardship criteria we would be able to look at this as well for you. You would just need to email contactus@cccs.co.uk with your reference number and someone will contact you to discuss this.

I've just received my documentation through for setting up a DMP... however, I have a further - smallish - debt which I forgot to declare... a £650 bill for membership of a leisure centre (one which we stopped attending when we went into hardship but which we still had 10 months' contract left on which they refused to cancel)... the membership runs to end August 2009... can I add this to the DMP?
Robert
Hi Robert,
You would need to get it added before the plan starts. There should be a contact number in your pack, if you call that they will arrange for the debt to be added.
Let me know if you need the number and I will PM you with it.

Hi,
I am struggling. The finanicial problems I am having do not seem to be classed by many as debts, although i do have 2 credit cards these are not my biggest problem.
I'm sorry, this may be a long story...
I changed my job in January and that seems money wise to have been the worst thing I could have done. My december wages from my previous job was paid a week or so early with the added expense of christmas it meant that for some of my direct debits 2 months worth were coming out of one months money. This wouldnt have been so bad but when I left my job my final pay packet was only for 2 weeks and my new employer didnt pay us for six weeks! Something to do with getting our (there were a lot of us that started at once) information on their systems or some fooey. So not only was i having direct debits coming out, being recalled and then trying to be taken again so again causing 2 payments in 1 month but i was being charged £25 each time for the pleasure. I am now stuck in a horrible circle that is just getting worse. Each month my wages are going in paying the charges and over draft on my account not leaving enough to pay my debits to come out so i get charged and of course it means im trying to pay 2 lots of bills in 1 month again and its just going on and on and i cant see how to stop it. The charges just keep coming.
I know this is long and possibly not the easiest to understand but any advice would be hugely appreicated!
Thank you
Hi liddyloo and thank you for your message
You need to get a basic bank account elsewhere and have your money paid into this account. This will put you back in charge of your finances again.
I have attached a link to a booklet that lists the basic bank accounts you can look at. http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf
You can then arrange to pay off your overdraft with your current account at an amount you can realistically afford.
To work this out, put together a budget showing your income and expenditure.
This will show how much surplus you have after paying all your priority bills.
Then send a copy of the budget with your offer of payment and ask them to consider stopping interest and charges until the debt is repaid.
The bank do not have to agree to this but you can ask.
If you would like some help and assistance in putting together your budget, you can ring for a telephone appointment to speak to one of our debt counsellors.
The free helpline number is 0800 138 1111. Lines are open from 08.00 until 20.00. Monday to Friday.
Hope this helps

Hi,
I've just managed to reclaim back some credit card charges from two companies which will be deducted from my current balances. Do I need to let CCCS know to make sure my balances with you are updated?
Many thanks
If you call our client support department, they will update the balances for you. I will PM you their number.

I received my forms through at the weekend and will be sending everything off later today... but... do I also send letters through to my creditors already or not? The letter that I got from CCCS suggested that I should but I don't yet have a date for when my plan would start...?
My account number is 1221678.
Hi bobpitbull and thank you for your message
You need to send a copy of the notification of debt management letter to each creditor with a token offer of payment for this month if you have not already paid something.
The start date of your plan will depend on how quickly you send your information back to us. It should be 1st June if there is no hold up with obtaining bank statements etc.
If you want to confirm this, then you can ring us on the telephone number which is in the pack we sent you.
I can PM it to you if required.

It was for one debt, my overdraft with RBS which I did default on.

I have never heard on a creditor applying for four CCJ’s on the same debt. I would recommend that you contact the creditor and ask for the reasons why they have issued you with four?? And then ask them to update your file correctly.
You would be able to apply to the court to have the CCJ varied. To do this you would need to complete a N245, there maybe a fee for this depending on your circumstances. The N245 will give you the opportunity to put forward you income and expenditure and make a new offer of repayment.
It is really important that you stick to paying CCJs, as the court have the power to send bailiffs or take the money directly from your wage.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt.
