DVD Wars: Slash The Cost Of Rental/MSE Discussion

I have been using amazon rental for about 18 months, and they have been really good. I have changed my package up and down over the this time and it has not been a problem. I also love the recommendations facility, I have watched some obscure films that I would never have known about and they have been excellent. I have had one film go astray when I returned it and they did not quibble and I was not charged for it. The have a free phone helpline during office hours and they are always very helpful. I have had a couple of discs that have jumped etc, amazon have sent replacements without hassle in a couple of days. I would totally recommend them, and they have quite a choice of packages now and of course you do get 10% off of films that you purchase even on the cheapest package of £4.99 a month, this 10% has been very useful to me especially at christmas.0

Somehting I've just though of that might stop the companies from billing you once the trail has expired ...
Would a cahoot webcard (virtual card number and expiry date for a single use) work ?? Do the companies actually try and pre-authoirze an amount against the card ?? Cos if not you could create a cahoot webcard with £1 value and sign up with that.... if the company keeps trying to take money even if you cancelled within the T&C's then the most they would get would be £1 ????0 -
What is it that stops you going back to the same company and doing a free trial again?
Can you sign up with a different email address to get another free trial?
Can you sign up with a different postal address to get another free trial?
Blockbuster openly says in there T+C's that you can sign up again after a month.0 -

I signed up via this - how do I know it's worked, as on the accounts page it doesn't tell you how long your free period is for?0 -
            Yes it works perfectly.
I've been doing this for the last 2 years opening a new Lovefilm account every month using a different number each month.
Just vary the address slightly and it works.Tadger wrote:Somehting I've just though of that might stop the companies from billing you once the trail has expired ...

They go by email address, postcode and credit card details.
I generate a new credit card number ,use a different email address and modify my address slightly each time I open a new account.
It works.0
