I highly recommend Blockbuster. We've been with them for several months and they are really fast.

We were with Lovefilm before that and they were rubbish.
  • I cant even find the article. Anyone got a link thats not dead please?
  • Hi to all, Please be gentle as this is my 1st time! Have watched the site for a while and just thought I would mention a dvd related offer at Blockbusters at the moment. If you pay for 10 rentals in 1 go then you recieve a free dvd player. Tokens are valid for approximately 2 months so if you would normally watch at least 1 film a week then your onto a winner! Could be a present for someone. Good luck!
  • I've bought myself several Tesco gift certificates and even bought some as cheap (!) Christmas presents :snow_grin but I've had nothing but trouble from them. They've taken the 4 lots of cash from my credit card (even though some of the giftt memberships start months away) and I haven't been successful at opening my account yet!
Because I 'tarted' with Screenselect in the summer, they are telling me that I can't have another free trial. I have pointed out in several emails that I don't want a free trial, I've already paid. They can't seem to cope with this deal not starting with a free trial, nor can they cope with gifting oneself!

This has been going on since 1st December and I have not yet had one DVD - I've phoned the helpline, they've phoned me, they've sent me emails - but they can't seem to sort this out!

    Any ideas???

  • This is also a good site for reviews http://www.dvdrr.com/

Screenselect and Lovefilm are rated very poorly. Having used both of them I found that they were great during the trial then afterwards, almost as soon as the first payment is taken, the service comes to a standstill.

During trial DVD's are logged as received the next day after posting, and new DVD's sent out same day. After trial it takes 3 to 4 days for them to log as received and a further day to send out more despite having 40 plus titles in my list. I wouldn't complain other than the fact they advertise an 'unlimited service' when it is clearly not.
The main problem is you can't prove they have received the DVD's back, they just blame the post.

I would recommend that anyone taking these trials obtains a free certificate of postage when returning DVD's.

My experience of sainsburys ( lovefilm) was rather mixed as at one time we were using a lot of dvds on 3 at a time contract, but fell foul of a clause claiming to make things 'fair' which meant they thought were being too quick so would delay our new disc. The customer service line was diabolical, in that they would repeat ' We can't have an infinite number of discs' at me, rather than having any power to change things. However, we started getting more tv series to slow ourselves down a bit ( 24, band of brothers etc) and lately they have improved quite a lot and we had even been getting some from the top of our list.
Inspired by various threads I have cancelled and gone to tesco for extra points, with a gift voucher waiting for February- but I will use a different email address for that. Anyway today we received two gift vouchers from Sainsburys, as I still have the rest of the month to run... 2 2month subscriptions, for 2 discs at a time, for a 'friend' but not an existing member. So, at the risk of getting confused, I am using one of those to boost up my 1 disc membership at tesco. I was so chuffed when I got that offer today- look out for it sainsbury's members!

The problem signed up for the service only received 1 of the 3 films they have despatched on the 16th dec. Sainsburys despatched the day after with no probs and we never have mail go missing here, have used sainsburys for ages! all discs turn up. Have tried emailing postadvd and they just wont reply. Cancelled my account and they still are taking money. :xmassign:

    Hi,

I have just signed up to the free trial at sofa cinema. It's for 30 days and I get to borrow 4 Dvd's in that time. I'll let you know how I get on with them though. I am only signing up to them for the free trial though I expect as I highly doubt we would watch four dvd's in a month! Although for some people these things must save them a fortune.

Please all dont forget to do your free trials through quidco, as you can earn £41.50 cashback for taking the free trials from the companies they have listed!

But again as always remeber to take a not of the cancellation terms and stick to them!!
Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.
