Well, I'm with you on the lonely bit girls. I'm still very much married but hubby is touring like crazy at the moment and I hardly see him. On top of that we have to limit phone calls to once a day for a few minutes because he is travelling all over the world and it costs a fortune. I'm not earning anything right now so we are down to one salary and need to be a bit careful.

I'm missing him a lot and find the days just drag.

  • indebt - don't think about Christmas as a bad time to be alone. Think about it as the opportunity to do exactly what you want, when you want. I have a weird Christmas Day now. OH goes home around 9am, spends the morning and early afternoon on the phone to his family and his son pops round to see him. I go to see Charlie and take him for a walk (which is lovely on Christmas Day, everyone is smiley and says 'hello') and then I come back here for a couple of hours on my own and start dinner. OH usually comes back around 3ish when I start dinner. I have used the time over the last couple of years to come onto MSE and also do a couple of hours on AQA (oh, and spend at the M+S Christmas Day sale!!!) I used to get a bit miffed by him clearing off for half the day, but now I think - well, I can get out and see the sea with my boy and say hello to lots of lovely people without thinking I 'should' be at home with OH (oh, and it means I can pop onto DFW! :rotfl: )

Christmas is about what you make it rather than how you are 'told' by the TV, media etc how it should be. How about singing carols in church or volunteering to help a charity for a few hours on Christmas Day, you'll get a lovely warm feeling from it.

At the end of the day, Christmas is sadly very materialistic and even Boxing Day with all the big sales starting in superstores is not much different to any other day.

Use Christmas Day to treat yourself - if you want to sit around in your best jim jams and eat chocolate all day - go for it :D

Even a song on the radio make me tearful lol
  • good, I'm glad you are thinking about yourself :) - because you are important and although it may feel that the whole world is having a day which looks like something out of an M+S advert - they probably aren't ;) so make it special for YOU in some way, even if it's something small.

Toto, I went to a mobile shop the other day to enquire about changing contract, I was offered a sim card with orange with 400 international minutes as part of the package. they usually cost a tenner and i know a number of the networks do it. when the 400 minutes run out just bin it and get another. would that help you be able to speak to hubbles for a bit longer. if not skype is a god send and downloadable for the internet and calls are fwee!!!
