Has your dress come through yet?

I'm thinking of Landy but I have to confess I'm pretty nervous in case its nothing like what I'm expecting. Would be good to hear about your experience.

Many thanks

Hi Scruff

My dress arrived yesterday, i am honestly amazed, you could not but the pearls and diamantes and sequins here for what my whole made to measure dress cost me. I was extremely wary of buying from abroad and have had many a sleepless night over this dress but decided after visiting many bridal shops that i could afford to loose the £126 paid if my dress was not what i was expecting but it is nicer than any i have tried on in England, i did have a back up in mind which was £1382, i cant stress enough on how perfect my dress is, the satin is very good quality the embroidery is all symetrical ( i have even had tape measure on it ) It took 4 weeks and three days from submitting order to receiving dress, it fits perfect if anything i cannot afford to loose any weight, i ordered a lace up back just in case as research told me lace up dresses can fit you even if they are a size too small but honestly it is perfect, the material is quite heavy which shows the quality and i have now decided to order my 5 bridesmaid dresses from landy with confidence. I dont get married until august so ordered early just in case it was not what i expected. I have a good budget for my wedding and didnt order to save money however i cannot stand to pay more than what is neccesary for things however i now have saved a massive amount and when i have 5 bridesmaid dresses to purchase that UK price is £205 and landy's price is £48 eventually i will have saved over £2000 pound !!!!!!!!!!

If you require any pictures of my dress before you buy then get in touch my direct email address is vicky.purslow@rentokil.com

Hope this helps make up your mind.
• Sorry ladies, prepare for a rant! Don't know if anyone can give me advice on this?

Basically, ordered my wedding dress from Landy, it came just over a month ago and its perfect, exactly what I wanted.

Found a gorgeous evening dress that would be perfect for my OH's christmas do (tonight), its an important one so trusted they would do as good a job as my wedding dress, so emailed them asking if they could make it, and how long it would take.

They replied saying yes they could, but the dress would be too late for the do. I emailed back saying 'thanks anyway but I'll need it by this date so will go elsewhere thanks for looking into it'.
Next thing I get a reply saying they will make it in time for me so I receive it by 10th/11th December at latest, I was happy with that so I paid (via paypal).

Emailed them about a week ago asking if it had been sent so it would get to me on time, had a reply saying it would be sent on Sunday (7th?), thought this was cutting it a bit fine and expressed it to them but they assured me it would get to me on time as it is being sent via TNT.

Chased them up a couple of times this week to get a TNT tracking reference number, finally received it yesterday morning, called TNT only to find it was picked up from them yesterday, not sunday as promised.
I have called TNT a couple of times and have been told it definately will not be delivered to the UK before monday, 3 days after said do :(.

Not sure where I stand here as its a made to measure dress, but I would not have gone ahead if they had told me they could not make it in time :( I've spent £75 on a dress I wont ever wear as I don't often go to these kind of things, and I'll have to buy another so I will have something to wear! Like most people on here thats alot of money, especially when getting married in a few months!

Has anyone had anything similar happen? I know its not related to a wedding dress but hopefully someone will have some experience/advice?

Thanks for reading, sorry for the rant!

Sorry to hear you had a problem with landybridal, when I was getting married and got my dress from there I seemed to be the only other person who had a problem with them!

My dress also wasn't sent on time and arrived later than I wanted it (not too late for the wedding, but too late for being able to go shopping to find accessories to match and check it went with the hair/make-up etc I had decided on). I had a whole raft of problems with them following this, and after all the problems I had by this time it was too late to claim through Paypal and I ended up with nothing back and I was extremely annoyed (plus by the time it was delivered it turned out it wasn't made how i asked!).

I would email them when it arrives and copy in the email where they say they'll have it to you on time and ask if they will refund you. The main problem is, Paypal require you to send it back via a trackable method and I know for my dress this was nearly the price I paid for the dress so wouldn't have been worth it and I lost out. But definitely email them to ask what they are going to do as you only went with them as they assured you it would arrive on time, and wasn't even sent in time to get to you when promised so it is their fault. You can start a claim through paypal aswell but not sure where that will get you.

I hope you can get something back, but from experience they turned quite rude and nasty once I had a problem with their service and even though I sent them copies of emails where they agreed to make it to a certain design, they denied all this and denied saying they'd deliver by a certain date etc.

Luckily though, no-one else seems to have a problem with them, but I wholehearedly would dissuade people from using them after my experience (above was the shortened version, it was a long saga!).
• Oh dear Honeypop sorry to hear that, I have had a few emails back from them (although replies arnt as speedy as they were before I bought the dress!) the last reply I received was this

I feel sorry about this, please trust i also don't want this happen.
The dress i sent to you,you can keep it.Just would you please leave this for your next order?
I promise you i will give you big discount for any dress next time you order from me.I hope it is ok for you.

Which I don't think is good enough, I was planning on ordering the bridesmaid dresses from them as I was really pleased with my wedding dresses, but don't think I will now so a future discount is no good to me! I have asked them for a refund several times but they have ignored all requests, how much would it have costed for you to send it back to them?

Cheers,

SH x
• If you were really happy with your wedding dress from Landy, why are you not getting the bridesmaids dresses from there too? You are now in a position to possibly negotiate a discount that outweighs the cost of the party dress, which would not leave you out of pocket?
:DBelly by name, JELLYBELLY by nature! :o
• I don't think I'll get the bridesmaid dresses from there as I've lost faith in them, they assured me on various occasions that the dress would be sent last weekend (6th/7th), I chased them up to make sure this had been done, then to find they had only sent it yesterday, so its poor communications as well as the fact I can't really afford two dresses right now, I was going to get the bridesmaid dresses late jan/early feb.

I am afraid to say that you are not the only person that has had problems with Landy - when visiting various bridal shops in my area, I have come across lots of tearful brides to be who visited the bridal shop, found a dress that they liked and then asked Landy to copy it. When the dress arrived it invariably had single seams which means that there is no way to alter the fit or the hems were uneven or the beading was hanging off.

I also know from being in the trade that the various designers whose designs are stolen by Landy are doing their utmost to close them down permanently. Let's hope they succeeed.

how much would it have costed for you to send it back to them?

The quote I got at the time was about £80-£90 to send by a trackable method, so wasn't really worth doing. But the dress was quite weighty that might have bumped the price up.

I understand you losing faith in them to do your bridesmaids dresses. As they've said you'd get a discount if you order again, might be worth getting a quote from them for what it is you wanted to order and asking how much discount they'll be giving because of this hassle, and if it's reasonable then just make sure you order them in good time and give them a date you need them by which is earlier than you actually want them.

I can believe they are ignoring refund requests, it's annoying isn't it?! Maybe try a chargeback through paypal anyway if you are within the time limit?
