    Thanks Edda

    Now that's what I call a pro-active Council.

    I'm impressed. :T

The last version I saw of the lapland new forest website last night
as well as having the notice about the park closing
had, at the very bottom of the site, a note saying that at the request of trading standards the site now said "wood cabins" "market stalls"
and that snow covered had been removed.... there was another change as well but I can't remember what it said now.

Given that the majority if not all tickets were prebooked, changing the website after people have booked doesn't negate the initial misleading advertising but at least stops any further damage incase anyone had failed to see the news coverage!

OK, I've put the copy up for those who want to compare and contrast. Unfortunately, not every page and image has been saved by the crawler robot I used, but there's enough to to point and laugh at/complain about as necessary.

The URL for this is a bit long, but bear with me:

http://agemame.fruit-emu.com/mse/ - and then click PROCEED (I thought I'd put a disclaimer up, in case someone thought it was the real deal).

As an aside, I wrote to Snow Business, and they did confirm that they were providing effects for the New Forest site and maintaining them:
    Dear James

Yes we supplied fake snow to Lapland New Forest.

We are aware of complaints about other aspects of the park but they are beyond our authority to do anything about.

I have attached pictures of the snow as it was this morning, we are continuing to maintain it in that state.

    Regards

I can't attach the pictures here, but they're basically the ones on the current incarnation of the website.
  • Thanks to the people who are hosting previous versions of the lapland new forest website - that is what people will need to print out to make their claims to the credit card companies etc. well done :T

Meanwhile the lapland west midlands event seems to be shaping up nicely, (not!) with 24 hours to go the site looks like this:

  • Hello everyone,

My wife has just received a call from M&S Credit Card Services, informing her that the money will not be refunded as we had visited the "attraction:rotfl: ", and therefore received the "service".

We are incensed, as I'm sure many others will be.
    M&S siding with a convicted fraudster - I never thought I'd see the day.....

    Advice please!

I don't know how much this will help people, but I took the liberty of making a copy of the original site as it stood before the most recent changes. I can arrange for it to be hosted to allow people to make comparisons, but the first thing that leasps out at me is that this version removes any reference to the area being 'snow-covered', and changes the 'log' cabins to 'wood' ones.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear that someone's trying to cover up the initial promises made to remove any threat of false advertising allegations.

I noticed this alteration also. I am also happy to host, or keep for evidence, any copies of the web site that members of this forum hold. I will seek advice prior to publishing any information as this is clearly now a sensitive issue. However I see no reason that copies of previously publicly available material is not held securely and made available to authorities or individuals who have legitimate claim to access.

If any of you wish to deposit copies of material with me for safe keeping please PM me.

  • i am not too sure if its been mentioned but please be aware of the disclaimer at the bottom of the website of the midland 'lapland'
it states 'Images used on this website are for illustration purposes only and may not represent the real event'
interesting,so what does it look like actually.

    hi gomer,hows things pal.
  • Look guys, if Santa can deliver presents to children all round the world in just one night then it should be a piece of the proverbial p for him to transform that muddy car boot sale field outside Wolverhampton into a wonderland by tomorrow lunchtime. ;)

I'm sure there'll be all sorts of great things there ... like... um .... well, some tents and portaloos at least. Or at least the tents anyway

Just you wait and see! :rotfl:

    Dear Osamabedlinen
Yes, it has been noted before. Even worse are the Ts and Cs (which I'm sure contravene UK consumer law - you or Gomer will know more than I) but it is clear that nowhere does it state that 'Your statutory rights are not affected', now I thought this statement was a legal requirement. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I also think the 'disclaimers' in the Ts and Cs are largely unenforceable, and border on being illegal to publish. However, again, I speak in this matter as an observer and not an expert, I am sure wiser legal minds than mine will set me straight!
  • What a shambles! How long has the site for the Midlands one been online does anyone know? Do you think they have had time (before the New Forest one was exposted) to sell any number of tickets?
