Lapland New Forest Scam. How to get money back...

  • I just think that you've somewhat hijacked a forum which is really to empower the actual people ripped off by the ghastly Mears, and subordinated it to your hobby of acting the role of a 'good guy' against the wicked scammers.

I'm sure your practical help would have been equally appreciated it if you had offered it in a less overbearing manner, and this would have the added benefit of not reducing some of the forum members to being merely your foot-soldiers or cheerleaders, but rather giving them the satisfaction of involvement in getting their money back and seeing the Mears creature squirm.

It's quite frankly risible to suggest, as the falsely modest tone of a couple of your postings suggest, that you personally, as opposed to the many agencies and individuals involved, had any influence whatsoever in closing the silly park down today. You're deluded if you think that, you're mad as a box of frogs, and I could leave you to your fantasy, except the fact that you are superficially convincing, I'll give you that, and you're treating real people, and real problems flippantly so you can create a drama with you at its centre.

Oh for goodness sake...get over it already ! Pompous is it? Pots and kettles spring to mind.

I had hoped that this site, unlike others, was simply about the 'greater good' and consumer issues......not male egos!!
I don't want to buck the system....I just want it to WORK!!!
  • As an event manager I have read your posts with interest, however knowing events like I do can read between the angry lines!

You may wish to note there is a showground in melton mowbray which is talking about doing a lapland next year. I know the people involved so know that it really will be excellent.
the site itself has road and tracks and has undergone about £40K in drainage recently - so no mud either!

This is just at the stage of "wouldnt it be good, shall we look into it?" but I hope they do decide to go ahead. They have my vote anyway!

if you want more info email me, and i will keep you updated.

Phil and group, I have not felt that Gomer has 'hijacked' this forum, nor do I feel Gomer has subordinated it to his hobby. Nor do I think Gomer has reduced other members to his 'foot-soldiers' or 'Cheerleaders'

Furthermore I have not seen in any post to this group any claim by Gomer that Gomer was responsible in any particular way for the closure of the site.

Your last paragraph makes so little sense as to be below me to comment upon.

If your feeling against this person were echoed by anyone else in this forum you may have a case but as yet I not seen any posting postulating anything but praise for Gomer. Foot soldiers rarely do this voluntarily for their leaders.

I have no axe to bear in this debate other than to state my case, my summation is that I feel you are being unnecessarily unfair in your judgement of Gomer, but this is merely my opinion.

  • Each show/event needs a licence. These have to be applied for to the local council, at least 3 weeks in advance of the show. When you receive the "go ahead" the police then have to be notified. If you want to play music live or otherwise additional licences have to be applied for 28 days in advance.

Interestly these rules havent applied to the laplands mentioned. Just a small comment about the oddities of our legal system!
  • Addressed to Phil

I'm so thick skinned I could care less.

I don't court friends, favours or thanks.

One person who pm'd me knows my attitude and why I feel that way,

As I am unlikely to be here much I am as inconsequential as your comments have been irrelevant.

The best chance of anyone getting any chance of gaining recompense was by crystallizing the position. This has been achieved so I am taking no futher action at all.

Beyond that - I will ignore your future comments of any sort because they have no interest to me.
  • The website for "Laplandwestmidlands" was only registered towards the end of November 2008, to a RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS in Wolverhampton.

The website appears to use stock photographs.

I can find no street address details on the website, nor a Ltd company name, merely an address of where the event is to be held.

As others have said they share a phone number with a paving company.

Let me re-iterate what I said about Lapland New Forest...

*IF* you decide to book tickets for this event then BOOK WITH A CREDIT CARD!

Personally, if it were me I'd give this event a very wide berth.

    Don't say you weren't warned...

I think it's great that these scum bags were found out - well done to all those that brought this to the attention of the media and kept it going.

More people like Gomer working together is great, my brother I hope will now get his money back as many others should. 450 posts and a thread viewed by 70551 hardly points to a hijacked thread
    Kind Regards

    Hi Barry

The only problem with the credit card thing is ,I've noticed that a ticket for 4 at the Midlands site is £80 not £100. Doesn't this mean they won't be covered on a credit card either.

For once I'm glad that New Forest was so expensive....otherwise my money would be gone I think.

Am I being naive by wondering if it's possible to start a new thread with their name in the title (with all this info on here)that would come up when customers googled? that way they could judge for themselves before they parted with any money?
