Godders and Webmaster - thank you for posting.
Godders - I found your information interesting but way above my paygrade !
I'm just a bog standard internet user with minimal technical knowledge, in common with the majority of net users I guess. Speedtests mean little to me and pings even less.
Webmaster - wishing you and the team well in removing the glitches. My frustration - which may be shared by others - is that it all feels a bit like being stuck in a traffic jam with no idea when it will clear.
LOL - The brief version:
Your ISP, speedtests and such may sometimes be fairly irrevelvant. Something that happens that 'breaks' a site for you may need you to clear down a bit of your computer (the temporary files) and let it start again - this is what the software called CCleaner can help with.
If you use Firefox then trying the same site with Internet Explorer can help see if the above is true
If neither of the above do anything for you and the site is slow (sat there doing nothing) while the rest of the Internet is fast then report it here, and even if they don't reply I suspect the techie team is reading this thread regually. In these cases knowing your ISP and speed should help the team.
If you get an error message back about there being an error (rather than it just sitting there doing nothing) and to try in 30 seconds is pretty certain to be a forum software error. Again, these are worth reporting I suspect
/End Brief Version
Don't you just wish I'd posted that last time:rotfl:

I always prefer the executive summary - thank you  .
Acting on you knowledge I'm now going to download CCleaner and run it and if I'm never hear of again - I'm chasing my tappy around cyberspace .....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Good luck - I really hope it helps. Be aware though when you run it if you leave the option ticked for it to clean / remove cookies you will have to log in again, thus having to rememeber your username and passwordWhich if your lazy like me and always have "remember me" ticked then it can cause password remembering related problems

Hi Soolin,
Do you know of any other BGs having these issues? What exactly were you trying to do when you got this error? Was it repeatable?
Also: we've found a problem with a process that runs (or was running) at 10 minutes to the hour (every hour) which is the cause for many of the glitch messages we've seen. We're working with it at the moment an moving the time it runs so it might cause further glitches for a day or so.

Same here I'm afraid, so far above my head...........however, I do think even if the hard working techie team are beavering awayand even if they don't reply I suspect the techie team is reading this
some sort of acknowledgement would help, even if it's one of Webbie's team hitting the thanks [I know that's a bit of misuse] button, then at least individuals would know they haven't been left hanging.
With so many of us techno wallies using the board it's a natural conclusion to assume we are doing something wrong and we're the only one experiencing the problem, then we waste our time faffing [in ignorance usually] about trying different things to fix it.
It can't be that difficult/time consuming to apply this procedure to the one board, can it?0 -

It's probably only me
I was trying to merge two threads, both were still there after I got the message and a few minutes later when I tried again it was all OK.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ah, I see. If the threads are largeish and/or the Forum is busy, it can take a few minutes to merge.
Thanks for trhe update.
