Same here, Donny, Blairweech, PenPen and Squiggly on the OS front.
But I will still contribute , just a lot more infreqently when I have something OS to say. It's still gonna get read every day though, gotta keep up with the gossip haven't you.
I have one OS thing to say today. Complained to Mr T about keep delivering 4 bananas instead of the 10 I put on the online order, they can't explain why, but I got a £5 voucher for my troubles
Oh btw Hester, don't leave us all in suspenders, what did the police want with little old you??
Have a good 'un all0 -
Hiya :hello:
It's very quiet here today and I realise that some of the regulars are not posting at the moment. I'm not a regular as my life isn't always OS and sometimes I'm just too busy to open the laptop, but I do enjoy popping on here to read about you all, so please don't stay away...life is too short. (end of sermon:rotfl:)
Hurray it's half-term for us 4 :j.
DH broke up yesterday, got a small payrise and went to the pub after work. So after rolling in at 11pm and falling asleep on the sofa until 3am, he's feeling a little delicate today.DD2 has had her swimming lesson and DD1 is on her way home from the orchestra.
My Harvest Assembly went really well on thursday, the children sang and read their lines brilliantly and there are some very happy local pensioners who received huge bags of tins and packets of food. Despite the credit crunch, the parents of the children were very generous with their donations and my school is in a poor area of the city.
The wm has been on, the washing is on the line and is blowing gently in the breeze. The weather here is lovely today, but I think it's the calm before the storm, so the ironing pile will be tackled tonight. I've just made some lovely cappuccino style coffees for DH and me using my Frabosk cappuccino creamer (best buy ever) and I'm going to make fried egg butties in a minute.
For tea we'll be having Spanish omlette, cabbage and something else, not sure as I haven't decided yet, just waiting for some inspiration;)
I'm going to make some bread and as we have a surplus of bananas, I'll probably make a banana cake too.
I need to do another store inventory too as I've lost track of just how many tins/packets of food we have. We don't need to buy much food this week, just fruit and veg and I need to have another look at our finances.
Right that's all from me for now, so have a good day!:D0 -
Hi again
:bdaycake: Dorry
Hi Thriftlady and welcome back. You are spot on, we have a villa out here and have spent roughly 2 months about since we took early retirement after redundancy last year.
Snowy sorry to hear your news on the job front, and poorly cat. Hope something comes along on the job front soon. Usually the reason they won't take on agency staff is what the agencies charge for "finding a suitable person" I eventually found an agency that after 3 months would allow you to employ the person permanently without charge.
Just got back from the Saturday morning market and having a coffee and one finger of a Lidl Twix (IYKWIM). It is one street long, on a hill and at least a mile long. We park half way down and then to up to the top on one side, down the other side to the bottom, then pick up our fresh fruit and veg on the way back up again. It breaks the hill in half that way. DH kept says "he-haw" on the way back I don't know why :rotfl: :rotfl:
Lunch will be fruit from me in a mo, DH bread and cheese, and then I have pork chops for tonight with the fresh veg. I have a fresh pineapple which we will have for dessert.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Afternoon all,
Not much in the way of OS here so far but have high hopes for the rest of the day.
I have just been to look round my new house (don't move in for another 4 weeks though) and I am really excited about it. I have measure the kids room's windows ready for some curtains and I plan to make these myself:eek:
How do I know what size curtains I need though? DD's window is 120cm x 114cm.
My new house is slightly smaller than this one (but in a much nicer area) so over the next month we need to have a massive clearout! Will be ebaying and freecycling as much as poss.
This afternoon we are going to go through DD's wardrobe as she is out for the day and its best to do when she isn't there.
OH also wants to pack up the CD's and DVD's but I want to get rid of most of them. Will break that to him later!;)
I am also off shopping.... I always go to Morrisons as I have a discount card there (OH works there) to get 10% off. I am going to get as littl as poss as we are trying to run down the freezer and cupboard stuff.
See you all later

hello all
its windy and quite chilly here supposed to be even windier on sun so i have been to Homebase and bought waterproof tape, 10% day, i like to tape the glass in the greenhouse, its an 8' by 10', to keep it coming off in the wind
no bargains in asda that i needed so just got what was necessary, been to the library for my book and have made veg soup with the sweet potato and had a walk, some apples to stew later
Snowy sorry to hear you are out of work and hope Dylan is recovering well
hugs to all who need them xx0 -
Hello all :hello:
The Wanderer has briefly returned - well, its either post here or sit and read Dr Faustus (again).I've been reading "the other thread" but as I haven't been a regular poster for quite a few weeks now I haven't posted anything there. There is definitely a different feel to the OS daily but tbh I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. The thread will sort itself out and a happy balance will be restored, I'm sure.
Any road up, Happy Birthday to Dorry!
Snowy sorry to hear about Dylan and your unwelcome free time (I'm trying to avoid the word "unemployment". Didn't succeed.)
I've been a busy little bee today. I bought my niece a MAHOOSIVE fleecy blanket as part of a housewarming gift and she loves it so much she wanted to buy another one but couldn't find it. So I got another one for her today and managed to bag some not-so-greatly-reduced stuff at Mr T's this morning.
I have blanched lots of green beans and sugarsnap peas and frozen them. Cried my eyes out while chopping what felt like 3,000 onions (it was only 6) and frozen them.
Have HM lentil soup in the SC.
Got the washing up to date.
Made a humungous fruit salad that could feed the street but will in fact stop me from snacking on rubbish while watching tv. :j
Dishes are washed, dried and put away.
Recycling has been sorted.
Shredding pile has been sorted but not shredded - just yet.
I'm now going to read Dr Faustus while listening to it on a CD too. Then I'm going to type up my study notes so that I can actually read them. After that, I will put my feet up with a little glass of something white - no, not milk - and maybe some Rab C Nesbitt!! Let me tell you this, lady, let me tell you this, I will enjoy my swally tonight. (That was Rab C Nesbitt patter for anyone who hasn't heard of him.
)
Have a sunny Saturday one and all. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Hi folks .....me...usually a lurker with the occasional post !!!
All quiet here at the mo....it seems to have gone nearly dark and looks like lots of rain is on its way. Oh well its a good job the kids and doggies have already been to the park! The washing is half done and dried thanks to a sunny start and the sc is full of stew which smells yummy....and is making my tummy rumble. Am I the only one who want to eat double everything in winter..lol?? Not much more os going on as I have kept up to my jobs all week.
Trying not to feel sorry for myself today as my neck is agony at the mo...anti inflamitorys arent working and I think its time to get properly assessed , so will be taking another trip to the docs next week. Dh is getting worried bless... In the meantime can anyone recommend a really good pillow because I cant sleep! I have a memory foam one thats a load of rubbish (from matalan & gone flat) and a small shaped foam pillow which is just that...small , so I fall off it in the night IYSWIM!!
Of course any OS home made suggestions are welcome..was wondering if a neck roll might be a good idea?

Afternoon Everyone
Its a quiet and lovely day here cos its Saturday and the kids arent at school so no running to and fro.Went into town this morning for some bits and bats.Got the kids Halloween Costumes so thats a weight off my mind.BM is on as we are running low on bread. The kids had a naughty McD's for lunch so will only need a light tea.I've got some Lentil Soup in the freezer that should fit the bill.Managed to buy 3 tubs of reduced cream at the spar last night 56p instead of £1.12 not a massive bargain but I'll be making ice cream with it later so the kids will be delighted

Hi Mummysaver
It seems the police were watching the dealer who called at my house a few weeks ago, as I said, they weren't very discrete the car had an enhanced exhaust so the engine was roaring, but that was almost drowned out by the booming music coming from the car. One of the policemen watching recognised me from school so popped in to have a chat with me, feeling that would be more discrete than parking a police car outside my door!
He seemed to find it all very amusing & assured me I'm not a serious suspect.
We've been to price up the loft insulation, I popped into the local Mr T's, I got 3 broccoli heads & a chicken all reduced, I spent under £2. So next weeks meals are all sorted, it will be rubber chicken & lunches will be broccoli & stilton soup as I still have one piece of stilton left in the fridge.
Hugs Hester
