I have 2 loads from the WM on lights and one darks that i need to hang out to dry. Looks abit not much like any weather today. Its just cold and damp looking. It might have to hang in the garage to dry.

Good morning, all
I know I don't post here often, but I'm having a nice lazy Saturday morning before it all goes hectic, so I thought I'd drop in and say hello. Hope you don't mind. Hope everyone's well. Oh, great, can't remember what we're having for tea tonight - gah. Time to check the mealplan, and if not I've some mince from yesterday's trip to the market, some carrots, so a shepherd's pie might be on the cards.
Got 3lb of mince for a fiver yesterday, so will be dividing it up into portions and freezing them later. It should work out to being 6 little packs to serve us both for roughly one meal (perhaps two if I bulk it out), so that's 12 portions of mince and I think I worked it out as being about 42p per portion or something - less if I take it for lunch the following day. Very happy with that! Last week's venture got me lots of leeks for a £ so made a big pot of leek and potato soup and will be having some of that for lunch today. I love my freezer.
Off into town today to pick up tickets for a show I booked earlier this year, and I'll stop at the market (I work in a different town, this is the one in my hometown) to get some fabric to have a go at lining my coat. I really hope I can do this, as I can save myself £50 instead of taking it to a repair shop. Beyond that, the sun is out, I've had a breakout of spots and I fancy a long walk through the woods to take some photos. Got Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's programme to watch yet too!
Have a good day everyone!Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0 -
Good morning folks,
I'll be making a roast dinner later today with the large chicken I bought when M&S had their "dine in" promotion last week. I am using their ready roast potatoes too, but as there's more than enough of those for two of us, I have opened the box and put some back in the freezer. My MSE moment of triumph that week was sending the man behind me in the queue back to find a larger chicken (his was medium). I was strangely pleased when he came back with a much larger chook. MSE gets everywhere :rotfl:
I need to make some more banana muffins to use up the rest of the bananas. I'll take them to work on Monday, my workmates seem to like them (well they keep asking when I'm making them again, so I assume they're not just being polite). Twink's hobnobs are also very popular.
I seem to have finished most of my decluttering/major cleaning for now, and I'm pleased to report that my house is starting to look a bit more like a home and a bit less like a building site.
(((hugs))) to Marie and Ulick, Candygirl and her dad, and anyone else who needs one. Take care all of you.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's the weekend!!!! :j :j However, I have a stack of marking and a long list of things to do. Oh and one of my best friends and her boyfriend is coming to visit us tonight - and staying overnight. This means that I need to:
do the ironing
get stuff for tomorrow's breakfast - I'm thinking of a treat of smoked salmon with cream cheese bagels......... (well, the components of it)
general tidying and vacuuming
DH has headed off up to his big sister's house to help his BIL and dad lift up the paving slabs in their back garden. They moved in earlier this year and with two small children (4yrs and 18 months), the fully paved back "garden" isn't overly practical.
If I have any time, then I'll be baking some scones so that I look a bit like a domestic goddess - hopefully they won't actually look at the dust then. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Morning All
Well I am with tired_mum, moiliere, smokybabe, redruby, pen-pin choc-organge and others who do not feel quite at home now.
TBH I don't know what to say anymore, I used the read the thread and was inspired to reply, and no I am not one who writes names down and names everyone, but enjoyed their lives, and that is what was talked about "over the fence". I am not a cook, I do cook and from scratch, but that does not make me a natural or enjoy it tbh. I think the cause is what I fancy making usually is fattenening, and I have the ability to look at a cream bun and gain a stone! so do not need real temptation sitting in the cupboard.
IMHO the change of thread has only pleased a few, upset a awful lot more! , but I am with Twink, and old dogs don't do new tricks very well, so.
My day yesterday, was hit and miss, DH power-washed our dividing wall here to get 5-6 years of Sahara rain off it, it is white when we get the sand out of it believe me. He also put some extra shelves in our tall bathroom cupboard, there was just one central and over 300mm (or a foot to most) high, so loads of wasted space so I now have an additional shelf in each. The ironing was completely cleared. Breakfast was weetabix with sweetener & banana, lunch 3 plums, DH had cereal and then bread and cheese for lunch. Went and changed the bottled gas, filled with petrol and got some cash out.
We went out again last night, I had gammon, with egg and pineapple and peas but declined chips as they give you a mountain, and I find it hard to resist, so had a jacket spud - one of the largest I have seen! But I did leave half of it, we didn't do starter or desert. We thought there was a group we know on, which is why we went, but didn't see any sign and thought we had it wrong. Decided to walk back home (20 mins) got back to find a late delivery message on messenger to say there were on and would see us there, had a short break, then walked back. They didn't start playing until 11.30pm. We got home at 3am.
Pen-Pin :grouphug: to you, Smoky, Lamewolf, and anyone else who'd like one
:hello: All newbies - welcome along, you will soon find the "mad" ones.

morning all,
Bright and sunny here, I have dd's uniform in the wm, well the dark bit of it anyway, will do her shirts and undies after, I then have to put OH's work clothes on a boil wash, his jeans could almost walk to the machine on their own.
Other than that and a quick tidy, no os will be done today, dd is off out with her mates, her dad will drop her off in town, and OH and I will pack lunch and get out walking.
OH and I are having a steak sandwich for tea, dd does not want one, so she will have bread and cheese and ham, she has a hot lunch out with her dad.
Snowy, sorry to hear about your job, and poor baby dylan, I do hope he is ok xx
Hugs where needed x
Edited to say Happy Birthday to Dorry, :j (another one we have not seen for a while) xx0 -
:hello: Morning everybody,
Donny-Gal I'm curious -where exactly are you?-sounds very exotic, Spain?
Thumping headache this morning. Must make a note of the wine we drank last night and avoid it. We only drank one bottle between us but it seems to have given both of us headaches.
OH is about to take the kids to town DS1 wants to open a bank account (he's 13). DS2 wants one too because he thinks he will get more money -bless him, he doesn't really understand about banks.
I shall be making leek and potato soup for lunch with smoked bacon in and loads of croutons.
I've got diced lamb for supper. I'm going to make a stew with apricots and middle eastern spices (Bart's Bharat seasoning). I'll add some cooked chick peas that are languishing in the freezer. Couscous seems an appropriate accompaniment.0
