Welcome Busy, agree with CAFCGirl do a full SOA even if not brave enought to post its an eye opener. Especially if you make it even more accurate by doing a spending diary for a while.

I applied for amex cashback card and its been taking ages.. Was worried about my credit report so joined experian and looked myself. Amazingly good results :j I guess because for years I always managed paying minimum amounts at least. Scary how far back it all goes. Was then brave enough to phone amex who said its only a proof of identity thing cos I've only been here for 8 months. Fingers crossed I'll get it soon.

TMD, have you tried Abbey zero - its only a 6month 0% but they approved my friend who was turned down by virgin ;)

Whats the plan with the card then TMD?

Well, bf has £3,000 on his credit card and he has £9,000 on another two credit cards (split between the 2), a year or so ago his mum needed money and he did a bank transfer from his credit card to her bank she was meant to pay it back a couple of months after but so far she has no money so he's going to transfer the 3 cards onto the one so he has one payment until such time as she pays him back which will hopefully be in the next few months.

  • Hi Shelley

I don't want to apply for another card as I don't have a job, I am self employed but don't earn much so would not get accepted at the moment. I have 0% offer on my Lloyds so might transfer the £3,000 that's left on my A&L as A&L always have good offers on Balance Transfers although the latest one is only for 6 months now it was for longer originally so I'll wait until that one expires and they give me another one.

I wasnt sure if he was in much debt or if he was going to help move yours around a bit, but good on him for working the system

I'm too nervous to apply for another credit card, even though I could really do with a better rate, I've got 3 CC's already, and dont want a rejection on my credit file....

anyway better go and study, got an exam tommorow (oh i am such a martyr with my part time uni and my 2 jobs..oh woe is me..serves me right for being such a div!)

He doesn't have too much of his own debt but is still having to pay for his mum's ones.

I have lots of credit cards, balances on 5 (6 now bf transferred £3,000 to his credit card) so that is 6 of my own and one of his.

    I have:

    Barclaycard (x 2 now) £7,000 + £3,300 both 6.9% until paid off

    M&S &More £2,573 £7.9% until March 2010

    Capital One £1,000 0% for another 2 or 3 months I think.

Nationwide £450 no special rate for this one not sure of APR

    A&L £3,000 Reverting to 21.9% in January

Lloyds 0 (although might transfer the other £3,000 from A&L as they
have good balance transfer deals so when the latest one
expires in 6 months they might have a longer one

I wish I could get all the debt onto 2 cards and just have 2 payments a month instead of 6.

Good luck with your exam. What University do you go to? My bf works at a University in West London, I used to work there too until I left to have my eldest daughter. I do miss having a job and a regular income but at least we don't have to pay for child care and I don't have to go out in the cold every morning (well not until Jan when eldest starts Reception).

Thats how I feel TMD, altogether we've got 4 cards, 2 loans and 1 car finance.

Its quite a queasy feeling when I write it out like that......
3 of them are currently on 0% (credit cards) but these will all run out at the same time in March, and they'll go up to about 14% on average. Current one Im desperately trying to pay off is currently at 19%, so its starting to really grate on my nerves that the balance doesnt seem to be going down!

  • Hello and welcome busygirl (there seem to be several of us from this end of the country on this thread - I am in London too)

    Hello everyone else too

I paid £600 towards my loan today. It isn't showing on my internet banking yet but I am all excited so I am going to update now. Am hopeful for £150 more this month but am having traumas with Orange having switched away from them so that might be eaten away temporarily - should get it back next month though)

    Off to update my siggy

ETA: woo hoo, now over £2k
£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

YAY welcome to the 2k club :)

After all my procrastinating, I thought I may as well give it a shot and I've been accepted for Barclaycard credit card with 0% for 14 months!

Then I can transfer my 19% balance, and thats going to save me loads in interest! I also get 60 days in which to make any transfers, so I may do that with some of the current 0% cards we've got before their 0% runs out. Dependant on the credit limit I get awarded. Pretty chuffed with how easy it was to be fair...
