I think job happiness should count more than it does. My sister has recently taken a step away from more lucrative work and gone back to college in evenings. SHe's struggling a bit at the mo but will end up happy and I really admire her balls :rotfl:
Doodles house was progressing well but I'm hoping its the hot toy boy running her ragged :eek:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

I agree with the other comments PAID, you are really brave and I bet lots of people wish they had the guts to do what you're doing. Your health and happiness are so much more important than a job. It's also hard to motivate yourself to apply for new jobs and seek out new opportunities if you're coming home from work every day upset and worn out.
Now someone tell me to take my own advice0 -

hi all
cmd - you have to do what's best for your situation. we have. dh left today. so far dd has asked where he is and i've said he's in work and she's accepted that. how long before she notices he's been gone a while i don't know.
cafc - hope you feel better after a rest. your health is more important than anything else so take care of yourself
paid - if handing your notice in will make you happier then do it. it's a very brave thing to do. something else will come up hopefully very quickly.

Well I have done it!!! I am feeling a lot better and much more motivated to get out there and get a new job, before I was in a sort of depressed limbo. My boss (who is also departing) has been fantastic about it. I have frequently advised other peoplenot to do this but having spent too many days sitting at my desk trying not to cry I have decided enough is enough.
I am telling my team next week but have asked my boss to keep it quiet until then.
I do have a few possibilities rolling around that I am following up on via contacts and also a couple of others that I am applying for through the normal route, I shall have to see how I go, there is nothing concrete but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I have a 3 month notice period so fingers crossed everyone.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

Well done PAID. I think you are dead right. I don't think anyone should have to feel like that in work. My OH was feeling like that a few years ago and that's when I encouraged him to take 2 years out and do a music course (follow his dreams). Even though he is struggling looking for work at the moment, I wouldn't change a thing.
