  • Effing twuint was going to rescue me on Boxing day, but he couldn't be bothered to speak to his mum so now he is saying he is "expected to do certain things", but that means I am stranded at my parents and that means lots of tears - he did something similar last year (last year my best mate had to come and rescue me from being a jibbering wreck) and I thought he was a !!!!!! for that, he is now a super !!!!!!

It isn't that I expect him to play taxi, it is more that he promises to do things (ie get me out) an then pulls out (last yr on xmas day) I love my parents, but we can't do more than 36 hours

Sorry to be so melodromatic but am fuming and upset because I know what it spells

  • Last year I ended up shut in my bedroom like a teenager and was sat back against the door sobbing and shaking for hours, I just went into meltdown. He is now saying he will come on boxing day but I am hacked off that him feeling a bit hungover and not phoning his mum means that our plans have changed to the point that the hell of last year is flooding back.

It sounds silly typing it but I really can't cope with it andhe knows that.

Hi PAID - I know what you mean... Luckily my OH now understands but once my parents came to stay with us (and we have a similar relationship to the one you sound like you have) - they said they would stay until I came home from work that night. I cried at WORK!!! for 2.5 hours and refused to go home until they'd gone. My work friends were fab - leant me their makeup - now like loreal!!! and even offered to put me up overnight. In then end OH told them I wouldn't come back until they'd gone... How embarassing was that...

oh hunny. Im really sorry that its not worked out.
Can you ask him to phone his mum now and just ask her if they can alter things ever so slightly so he can come and collect you and then you go back to his mums?

And this might sound a bit wrong.... and hopefully wont offend.... but if xmas with your parents is difficult, can you not go?

I agree with CAFCGirl - if you feel that bad don't go. I think Susan Jeffers wrote a book called toxic parents (someone did lol) and that helped give me permission if you like to look after myself and limit my exposure to that level of toxicity...

I am going (with my own family) to visit but am going there and back in a day so that it is naturally time limited - no overnight stay... Some of my other siblings may not go at all. I like to do it and get it over with and then see it as having the rest of the holidays to ourselves...

Whats occurred with the exchange rate CMD have I missed something exciting?

Sorry, I was out this evening getting my hair cut and coloured. Got a new style and love it! Yes the euro is nearly on a par with the £. There is nothing I can do though, so will just have to hope I don't spend too much over Xmas.

I am also a doggie lover. When our first dog died the whole family was distraught. She was very much seen as a member of the family.

Hi all. Had a very early night last night as I'm not feeling so great. Have a cold and I'm sniffling so much it makes my head hurt. :( Anyway, sorry to miss last night’s conversation. I've had to bury my first dog, who was with us for 14 years when I was a kid. My ex partner had two, which became mine as well. The other one had to be put down whilst I was travelling. Then we took another one and when we split up I had to leave them behind as I couldn't have afforded to keep a dog on my own. :( Thankfully, I still see the dogs, not so fussed about ex…The exchange rate between euro and pound is doing my head in as I used to be able to pay off so much more off my student loan…Now it doesn’t make such a dent anymore. 

  • Just got my Lloyds credit card statement, I paid the minimum payment (went through today). Noticed on the statement that estimated interest next month is £1.15, the bar stewards must be charging me interest on the balance transfer fee which was £90 as they said they would offer me 0% for 6 months. Not a great amount but still annoyed, am sooooo going to pay these off even if I have to live on bread and water for a year (no more chocolate, pepsi max, sweets or any other goodies).
