Jenki - this is the £10 a day challenge link - give it a shot.

Cash back sites like quidco, ipoints, pigsback, moneybackmadness are all good places to start. Some of those other than quidco people on here could get free referral points for so if you wanted to you could benefit one of us. I have been paid way over £100 just from quidco, I'm almost at £120 just from ipoints, I've made £20-40 on Cashbackkings and have £25+ coming from Greasypalm all since August! Most of the money was probably cash back on gambling sites - eg Mecca were paying £40 for £10 stake. Some of those sites I won on on top. I also got paid for getting life insurance quote and setting up a savings account. there are all sorts of ways to make money.

I have also done a car boot sale and sold to friends etc. I'm currently trying to get some cash thro bingoport, cAFC is going strong on dooyoo, you can write reviews for companies.

You can use downloadable printable money off vouchers at shopping centres. Loads of ways to make £10 a day. Hope that gives you some ideas to start. I asked for and got a significant payrise - I included the first month's worth of that. I also rearrange my hours to reduce my childcare bill - I've included some of that but not included this month even tho still getting the benefit from that...

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks all

Nowt I can do about the job really.Just wait for the official notice I guess...

SH - Think I will take you up on the offer, not sure how much longer we've got broadband access for though as its being transferred to our other house so looks like we'll be without broadband for at least 2 weeks, and it should go off sometime at the end of this week! Bit of a nightmare.... not sure how I'll cope without you guys xx

Thanks for the support all. I think it just took over today as I pushed it out of my mind while I had stuff to do, and then all of a sudden when everything was done, it came flooding over me...
And you're right, we will all get there and never go back to it! If anything it has made me more resolute to regain control over the situation and kick my debts a$$!!!!

Phew done some wrapping still more to do though :o

I love the fact that this has become a virtual support group for us all. I don't know if it's just me but I find it easier to offload on here as you don't "know" me as such. It's easier to write on here things we may not want to say to people in the real world.

I agree, I think our emotions have a huge impact on our finances. I know a large part of my debt was accrued buying things which I thought would enrich my life.

It's only now I am older and "wiser" (don't laugh) I have realised that the important stuff in list comes for free.

I have also overspent this month and am really dreading going home with the €. It is so expensive but I have managed to cut back on a few nights so hopefully it won't be too bad.

I think we should all forget our money worries for the next week and have a wonderful Christmas with our families and loved ones.

Then we need to get our butts in gear and start the devine 2009 kicking debt butt!

Maybe we could make some pledges each month on this thread. At the beginning of each month we could write down all we want to achieve in that month then we can all keep an eye one each other and obviously steal each others ideas. :T

Hi - yep this is my favourite thread currently. CAFC girl - I'll send you another pm.

I know most of my debt has come from trying to feel better, look better or helping others feel better - that and food, takeaways etc..

My target is to pay off/stooze as much as poss over next few months as may also be out of work soon...

  • Just paid another £77 off Barclaycard, got the first statement of the one bf transferred for me, Barclaycard seem to have a higher % for their minimum payment than the others so even thought it's 6.9% until paid off I'm wondering if I should try and pay more off of those and then can always transfer some from other cards when the balance comes down (that is if the 6.9% offer is still on).

Now I have 7 cards to pay, thinking I should leave Nationwide and A&L as they have about £600 and £700 on and the others have thousands on.

Hope everyone is doing OK today - CAFCGirl hope you are feeling a bit better today.

  • My sig is looking good now, not far off the first £1,000, next statement is my other Barclaycard which I have to find about £163 for, have about £45 in coins just need to get some more to make them up into bags to change.

My two eldest are going to my parents next Saturday for nearly a week so will be going around seeing what I can get uploaded onto Ebay (or Turbolister) ready for if they have a cheap listing day after Xmas, they normally do for people to sell the things they didn't like/want/need.

CAFCGirl, sorry to hear about the possible job loss. Its a really scary time at the moment and no one has a 100% safe job. It sounds like they think highly of you and you're committed to doing a good job. This makes me think even in difficult times you'll have really good chance to get another job because you make a fab employee.

Its so easy to wish things had been different - one of my best friends pulled me up on that the other day. Apparently four or five times I berated myself for having done something. But we can all look back and see what would / should have done with hindsight but we only do what we think is right at the time. Thats the best any of us can do.

We're all going to have a lovely Christmas (including you PAID :D ) and then a really kick @ss and divine 2009 :T

Waiting money to transfer to savings account so I can take it out and send to Finland. Might not be able to pay as much as I want cos my ebay money is still in Paypal and I've heard it can take 6-10 days to transfer to your account. Bit disappointed about that. Went to dentist's today at lunch time and still can't feel my upper lip, though they said the numbness would only last couple of hours... Not feeling so good, so I think when I get home I'll go straight under the duvet.
