Hi all. I got paid what I was owed in expenses yesterday - another £300 or so! I also put in my next lot of expenses for over £200! so hopefully I'm now keeping on top of claiming. I don't use it for this challenge as such as it goes to pay off a cashback credit card I mainly use for expenses - The mileage rate does help me tho sustain my monthly target of paying off/saving approx £1K. I'm pleased tho cos my spending recently has been reasonably on target.

Off to deposit £50 in cheques to the bank - will try and limit temptation to spend so see you all later....

Hi Doodledoo - hope you feel better soon - you are having a rough time...

PAID I joined this site in July and have been reasonably "reformed". I found the special occasions board and particularly the finished baskets thread then so on most peoples pressies - I've spent between £2 and £15 per pressie but with RRP that could be double (or more) that so it still looks impressive and is all in the presentation.

This is an example - cost to me about £5, RRP over £20

Morning all, I'm trying to psyche myself up to go and doing some Christmas shopping but I don't want to :snow_laug

Hope everyone else has been more organised and has a more fun day planned!

  • Hi savingholmes

The basket looks great, I am doing a food hamper for my parents (although food excites me so much that I spent my whole budget on that instead of the hampre beng about half of their present - whoops, well they don't need clutter anyway - food is much more useful) Where do you get your baskets from? That is the one thing I am lacking but if push comes to shove I will put it in a nice hessian shopping bag with lots of sparkle and stuff

I managed to stay in budget for presents (first year ever :T), I guess it is just that I keep on spending the odd £1-2 here and there and it all adds up (that combined with an expensive holiday where I need to buy lots of extras)

For me the bah humbug of Christmas just makes me want to endlessly treat myself, thankfully now it is £1-2 treats but a year or more ago it would have been £100-200

PAID the baskets there were 99p!!! from Morrisons. Most of the supermarkets sell baskets or boxes. Dunelm, pound shops, Instore (bigger pound stretcher), home and bargain, b&M bargains also all good sources of baskets and boxes...

Hope that helps - right off to get dressed and out now...

I've only got 2 pressies to get and both are from an out of town golf shop! So shouldn't be too bad. Also have to get some supermarket shopping but might do that late this evening or early tomorrow.

  • Shelley - I just spoke to OH and when he went to Mr S last sunday it was dead and there was loads of food on the shelves so hopefully the supermarket won't be too bad.

I am going to try to persuade OH to come to IKEA with me to look for a basket for my parents food hamper - I can't see this going down well...
