go for it then! my dh has no idea how much I save by growing stuff nor how hard I have to 'work' to keep the grocery bills down... he know's what I spend a month but has no idea that it is v.low.... must be a man thing(!)
treat yourself!
Well that's what i thought, must be a mum thing being guilty in spending money. I was thinging about buying some new clothes but just can't imagine not have chickens to look at. Trouble is when i got my girls I didn't do any housework for weeks. I have to say my OH is very pro chickens, I guess it goes back to his childhood, but of course he never cleans the coup out;)Kind Regards

mum of 4 - so very sorry to hear about the chickens. if i were you then i would get an eglu - chicks provide you with eggs and are 'pets' so they are worth it
i just got myself a plastic greenhouse http://www.selections.com/GF755/walk-in-green-house/ (first link thing i have ever done so not sure if it will work!
am very excited about this!! plan on putting toms, chilli peppers, herbs and some corgettes in there!!! depending on space i may try some salad leaves too!!!it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -
Mum of 4 ~ I have been reading through this thread with interest and was so sad to read about your chickens. I have pm'd you (i hope my timing is not to rubbish) and really want to thank you for the inspiration you have given me !!{hugs}}
Don't worry not bad timing, although i am on my 2nd glass of red wine having just got about £60 worth of shopping from Mr T for £23.42 thanks to the over happy sales staff reducing all the goods which are dated to the 4th of Jan:huh: guess they just want to go home.
Using up yet more turkey by doing a mexican night. So turkey wraps, wedges with mixed beans and dips and nachos with cheese. We live on the top of a hill (for people who know bristol it's where the wells road climbes from leaving Whitchurch) so we can see fire works for miles. The children stand at the window all evening.
I may post a midnight depending on the wine situation but just incase
Have a very Happy New Year Everyone _party_ _party_ _party_ _party_

This is about the same size as the one that I want to replace.
They are great.
My 9 year old loves it in there.
I bought a folding trellis from Poundland, extended it to its full size and tied it to the frame inside the greenhouse, so that it stretches from the top to the shelf and have hung odds and sods from it. I put another trellis on the side that doesn't have a shelf so that it stretches from floor to the middle bar and used that to help support the branches to my tomato plants. I took my wind up radio in there with me and was in there for hours planting seeds etc.
You will enjoy being in there.0 -

All my chickens have been killed and I can't explain how upset I am.
I know we eat them but it is bound to be different when you have some to sit and chat to. So sorry to hear the bad news.
I was breaking my heart when a couple of our fancy goldfish died.
Then again I did also cry when a dalek died in Doctor Who so that doesn't say much, must be my age.
I was thinking about keeping chickens but I haven't read up on them and was a bit worried in case the dog could catch anything from them. We do get a few foxes around here though even though we live on the outskirts of a city. We saw one sitting on our front fence a few months ago, I thought it was a cat!0
