I have just pm'd you. I am going to grow more veg this year using raised beds instead of pots and planters. Your guide would be a great help. You are an inspiration to us all. Thankyou:A

    pm'd you :) thanks! xx
  • One thing I've just decided to do is grow celarey although I'm told by other plot holders on my site that it isn't that easy to grow. Now it's not to eat raw, it's to add to stocks and casserole, stew etc I can't believe how much it is in the shops.

    Mumof4:-

I grew celery a couple of years ago. I bought them as small plants from a gdn centre! Popped them into soil and more or less left them to it, they grew quite well considering my neglected style of gardening. HOWEVER, when I decided to harvest them, they were alive with woodlice inside, I don't think they actually harmed the celery but there were dozens hiding inbetween the stalks of the celery and it put me off (pathetic I know) :o
Now, 2 yrs on, I would just free all the little woodlice and make delicious celery soup for the freezer. :D
Don't be put off growing celery, if I could grow it anyone can! Don't know if the difficulty lies in the actually germination of the seed, as I bought mine as very small plants.
    Hope this is helpful.

Many thanks will defo give it a go. I find celery really does make a difference to stock. Can't believe how much it is in the shops, but then again my jaw dropped when i saw how much people were paying for a lettuce, well over £1 my seeds packets cost 50p for hundreds of seeds.
