Many thanks for sending me your plans. You look very organised. As an absolute beginner hopefully this will give me an idea of what I should be planting when and how best to get abit of variety!
Once again thank you for the time and trouble in sending the plans to so many people.0 -
Hi mumof4, I have pm'd you this morningAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Depending on where you are you can start to think about sowing some early carrots if you can give them some protection. Fleece etc. you could also start to think about early pea's. These could be sown in sections of drainpipe or loo roll innersand planted outside when warmer.
Sprouts - if you can get your head around this, start thinking about sprouts. They have a very long growing season and need to be sown around February time. You can get one type to harvest from September and then a later cropping one for say around December.
Think about covering planting areas with black plastic to warm the soil.
I will start to catch up with all the pm's during today.
I thought i might show you my leftover food menu plans, leeks are used a lot! This has been my first Christmas using all my own veg. Potatoes will be finished this week or next so i will have to start buying them. I've been searching my recipe books and online for ideas. The meals I'm going to freeze I will make two, if there is enough meat. The rest of the turkey will be frozen into 400g portions. The ham is dated until the 4th January but I may freeze some as i have just over kilo left. Depending on how much turkey meat I may get another two meals out of it. So all in all only milk and fruit to buy in the next few weeks.

i know this is going to sound a bit silly maybe but has it got to be black plastic? as i have a roll of thick blue plastic, which is used for a damp coarse lining which i am not going to use for anything elseWork to live= not live to work0

Should be fine, black or dark plastic will keep the sunlight out so it warms up but the weeds can't grow you could use clear plastic but again light will get through. Even fleece is better than nothing.Kind Regards
