Merry christmas mum of 4 and all on this thread, been sat here today with your plans, several seed catalogues and a plan of my garden. Just working out a plan of attack for the next year. Am I sad drooling over veggie and fruit catalogues lol.
Would love a greenhouse but don't think funds will allow this year, but hubby reckons he could knock up something with plastic sheeting and wood. Suspect this would be more along the lines of a poly tunnel.
We had alot of problems with blight last year, and having clay soil doesn't help. going to do some drainage work before anything else, but wondered is it worth going for a blight resistant variety of spuds? Thinking of charlotte, but any advice would be useful.

I don't know if any of the so called blight resistant potatoes are really what they say. Mt plan is grow a lot of earlies which are normally out of the soil before the blight comes. This year i'm growing lots of early tom's in a hope to get more before blight comes.
Some chap on our site built a DIY greenhouse and they had great crops. You can buy the poly cover stuff from firsttunnels.co.uk I believe they cut it too any size which is also good if you want to make some mini cloche type covers, they would last years.
I made some using blue water pipe for the hopes and the left over pieces of the tunnel. I rammed snapped off piece of cane into the ends of each hope which then pushed into the ground. Much cheaper than buying those ones at £20+.Kind Regards

Hello all
Serial lurker here, finally joined up today! I'd love to grow our own veg, I dabble every year with herbs and tomatoes which I can manage so maybe this is worth trying - to that end Mum of 4 you have a PM
Thanks!0 -
Hi Mum Of 4
Thank you very much for the plan, can't wait to get started.
Also, just e-mailed our local council to ask about alotments. Bet I will get a reply saying there are none left. Funny that I can see from my bedroom window that there are about half a dozen that have not been touched for the three years I have lived here.
Thanks again.

:T Hi Mumof4
You are a star! Thank you for sending me the brilliant 'Plot Plan'!
I am now full of enthusiasm for next year for my plot, my neighbour grows terrific marrows, so I hope to grow some of those as well. I am going to get some seed catalogues next and start my planning with the help of your spreadsheets. I am really grateful to you for sparking off all this excitement. Many, Many, thanks
