Thanks Mumof4! How long must it have taken you to sort that out! Truly inspired!
Off to badger DH to help sort out garden!!
I have to wait for the soakaway to be sorted, half my garden is going to be destroyed by diggers and god knows what over xmas. I think I will get him to ahem, dig some bits up for me!
Now all I need are chicks, somewhere for them to live...a field for some sheep....a little bit carried away there me thinks!
Anyway, thanks again!:Tsealed pot challange #572!Garden fund - £0!!:D£0/£10k0 -
Fantastic thread, just wondered.....with growing plans and/or chickens, is it best to reserve the winter for going on holiday/relative visits, or is it possible between March and October ?? !!0

with chickens.. as long as you have someone who can pop in (if you go away for longer than 2 nights) and feed/water them then you can go away anytime of year..
problem with veg.. is that summer/autumn is when most veg is ready for picking - so either the "chicken checker" has veg and eggs as "payment" or if you go away for longer than a week.. then some stuff 'may' get wasted.. I find for a week... i don't tend to loose anything...0 -
Thanks mum of 4 - just received the plans! :j0

Last year we had our main holiday in August which was a pain because we lost some stuff, even though people were watering etc while we were away.
This year we are going during the last two weeks of July so I hope things will be a bit better.
I've just collected 16 blueberry bushes and four of them crop in July so I might have to accept that i might never see those ones. Still should end up with a decent harvest.
To add - My chickens are well looked after by a neighbour, they get loads of treats and sometimes he even sites in the garden to keep them company. we even come home to find he's cleaned all the patio and steps. If we are only going away for the odd night or two they are fine as they have large feeder/drinkers and a large run.Kind Regards
