    Evening everyone,
I need something, anything..................toffee vodka sounds interesting as well as a baileys hot chocolate.
My daughter Rhian, left my house at 3.20pm yesterday to get Nathan (5) from school and to his swimming lesson (at the same school), leaving me with Callum (2 last wk). I gave him some mini smarties in a bowl and left him watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the room while I started my son's tea so that it would be ready when he came in from work.
Around 3.40 Callum proceeded to stick a mini smartie up his right nostril, I tried to get it out with no luck.
Rhian and I spent over 4 hrs down the local hospital, they couldn't find it, so it either came out when I wasn't looking or it went all the way down (with the help of a chubby little finger) or it's still there but out of sight. Not having taken to Myrtle the turtle (his potty) yet, he soaked through his clothes, had to wear a nappie that was too small and his do-up-under vest was left to dangle as we walked from A&E to ward 8 (ENT) at the other end of the hospital. We've been told to keep an eye out for any discharge from his nose as he may have to go to theatre to have it out, if it's still there.
Less than 2 hrs later I had a call from Rhian to say that Nathan had vomited everywhere, so off I toddled across the street where I stayed until after 4.00am. The 2 kids have been here most of the day, Nathan is staying tonight, still poorly and unable to eat, just have sips of water.
So I'm pooped and in need of reviving, Rhian has to go to work tomorrow by 9, hubby in work at 11, so it'll be me and the boys. Ain't life grand.
Hope everyone's night is peaceful and pain-free, thanks for listening to my tale of woe, I'll try and catch up tomorrow.
    Nos Da, sweet dreams.
    Karen xx

Karen, just remember things WILL get better and there's no need to apologise for sharing your problems, thats what the cafe does best!
  • Hope Nathan is soon well again and that Callum has no further problems - I imagin it's 100 times worse as a gran than a mum? Bring them into the cafe for a knickerbocker glory and let them play with the cats, that should cheer them up.

Pushing a smartie up her nose is just what my 18 month old granddaughter would do, she's always into mischief! Hope Nathan is feeling better this morning. Being a gran is usually much better than being a mum - all the fun, none of the responsibility:D My mum always used to say the best thing was you could send the grandkids home when you'd had enough!!! Kettle on by the way.

Good morning. Hope everyone slept well. I've just had breakfast but will also have a cappucino with chocolate sprinkles please and a pecan danish pastry. I know the cafe has them. Virtual cash on counter.
Reading the "Virtual Good News Daily" which always brings smiles to me. Rather like the letters in Harry Potter, this newspaper starts good memories.
Have visions of the little tricks my two used to do at the "terrible two" stage.
There was always a toilet roll on the radiator drying out from the ritual dunking in the loo!

Why was your friend eating peanuts if she has a nut allergy?

She didn't know it at the time - it came on rather suddenly:eek: I must admit that I love nuts but I am careful not to have eaten nuts or been near anything nutty when I know I am going to see her apparently her body can sense nuts in the air causing her to go into anaphylactic shock (mind you I get a similar reaction when I stand near someone who is on penicillin:eek: ).

What a day - I have been out to Lidl to buy a steam inhaler and came out with a few other things plus I had a row with a woman in the queue. I was queuing up and this woman who was behind me kept ramming me with her trolley:mad: So I turned round and politely asked her to stop ramming me with it - she claimed not to have been doing so, so I pointed out to her that when whe felt resistance as the trolley wouldn't go further forward then it was my back that was stopping the trolley's transit. Boy, did she go off on one, she screamed at me and came out with foul mouthed utterances, I turned to her and said that I had recently had a lump removed from my back and that I didnt appreciate being rammed by her trolley as the stitches would come out and the wound open up and bleed. (BTW I haven't had any such op but she wouldn't know that). Still I was cheered up on leaving the store because I found a pound coin that had been left in a trolley.

Pass me a large Tia maria with a slug of coffee in please - I am in great need...puts some coins on the counter.

    Afternoon all.

Looks like I've been missing all the excitement - flippin' 'eck Karen, your little'uns have been giving you and Rhian the runaround between them. I hope they're both OK now.

Horace, I hate it when people can't be a bit more careful and considerate with their trolleys.

I hope the coffee's good and strong; I need a whole pot to myself today, I'm absolutely cream crackered after yesterday.:o And did I spy pecan pie? Yes please!:p

We spent most of the morning with the lawnmower in bits, Mr LW sharpend the blades and "oily-ragged" the moving parts, and I have all the removable bits in the sink washing off the welded-on dried grass.

Then we replaced the drive belt on the food processor, which was slipping, after which we went and had lunch at the pub. Mr LW likes that, as he can have a meat dish which he doesn't get at home. I can't bear to even handle meat, let alone cook it. (Yep, a Veggie Wolf):D

Sorry, I haven't had time to bake for the cafe today:confused: I'll try and do better tomorrow.

Wolf - I am glad you had a grand day with Mr LW especially the pub lunch. I am not a veggie and hate handling meat so I have to wear rubber gloves before I will touch it:eek: (I have always been the same although I don't mind cooking it or eating it).

Karen - hope little Nathan is feeling better soon. Kids who'd have 'em? Reading about a smartie being stuffed up the nose reminded me of an episode that I had when I was of a similar age:eek: I was helping dad mix some concrete in the yard and had been given the important job of adding the water - he told me to stop but I was having so much fun I carried on at which point he leaned over and grabbed the spout of the watering can and pulled only I hung on and ended up flat on my face in the wet concrete and to make matters worse I sniffed:eek: I was covered from head to toe and my mum refused to allow me in the house so I was hosed down outside - such was the trauma I demanded to be taken to see Auntie Marcia who lived up the road (not an aunt but my friend's mum) and so I was taken to have my hair washed and have my nosed washed out. I can laugh now but at the time it was rather traumatic:rolleyes:

Oh my, Horace, that sure beats having the family pet walk across the wet concrete and leave little paw prints.:D :D:D

I'm pushing off early today cos I want to do some basic maintenance on the 'puter, then it'll be time to get tonight's dins on the go.
    See you tomorrow:hello:

snork.... I laughed so much reading about the children's antics - especially yours Horace - sorry, I know it isn't funny when it happens, but its the sort of thing that you look back on and laugh (honest!)

Well, I am just back from physio - my stupid knee that I had a n op on a few weeks ago, decided to collapse in the doctor's surgery on Monday and undid all the recovery. So now I'm back to square one with ice packs and painkillers. Grrrrrrrrr

I'll have a cappucino and some pecan pie please - don't hold the cream (medicinal). Oh and a bag of frozen peas for the knee :o
