Just catching up after the weekend.
So sorry to hear of Suep's sad news.
BZ well done to your DH on getting the promotion; hope you're feeling a bit better today.
I had an email from the dog-sitting franchise; we have 2 little dogs coming to stay with us next Sunday, for 9 days. A 9 year old miniature poodle, and a 4 year old coton de tulear. No, I'd never heard of that, either LOL. Should be fun, though.
Hope everyone's having as good a Monday as they can.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
lw Just googled the breed - their temprement sounds lovely and such a pretty dog. Hope you have fun with them and they brighten your days.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0

Sorry to hear about Suep's dad.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Suep... Thinking of you.
BZ, hope you're feeling better soon!
I'm currently watching a wheelchair hoist on ebay, it's used, but VGC, £70 with 3 hours left. This particular one is £600+ new! And it'd fit into a "normal" size car.. as it's a 40kg one (my electric chair is 25kg frame, and then batteries, which I can hoist separately, so it's great.) I just can't decide where to draw the line bidding wise, I've not seen one at such a good price anywhere before, it's just I wasn't expecting to buy it so soon! I'm thinking £250.. *gulp* but then I'd kick myself if I had to pay £500 to buy one in a couple of months time, or whenever it is I'd get it... decisions decisions!0 -
Thanks for the messages everyone. I've been cleaning like mad today to keep my mind off everything, it's quite good therapy, but I'll probably pay for it later. I'm glad Dads not suffering anymore but will really miss him.
BZ I hope the infection clears up soon, good news about the promotion, does that mean we will soon hear the patter of tiny feet ?
LW I bet your really looking forward to having the dogs, I must look up the weird named one, never heard of it either. Hope their no trouble.
Invasion Good luck on the hoist, I wish I could afford one, I can only get out if DH's with me to lift either wheelchair or scooter out of car.
cwta Im so sorry about your dx, your years not much better than mine so far is it ((((hugs))))
I cant remember what else I wanted to say, sorry if I missed anyone my heads all over the place.

Oh Dragon
hope you're in a bit less pain today? I hope you manage to have a sneak past the "payback" monster Suep. x
Re: hoist, it doesn't help that mum's still in "you could be better by then" mode, which is fine, but it's so frustrating having to remain "could be better tomorrow"-ful, and yet plan realistically. Realistically, I've been reliant on my chair for anything more than 5 minutes for 2 years, and over the last year or so, been using it for anything over 50m...
It's what my DLA is there for, if I'm going to start learning to drive again, which means I have to buy a car of my own, because I'll be driving automatic and we only have manual cars, then it's pointless to have a car I can't use alone because I can't get my chair in and out!
Even if I've managed to build my walking up to 5 minutes again by then (it took 6 months last time) that's not even enough for one shop. She works so much that no matter how well I get I can only leave the house once or twice a week, and totally, totally reliant on her. I do believe I'll get well, I don't know when, or how, and I'm not negative, I just want a bit of independence!0 -

I do hate being chained to the house while he's at work though; that's one reason having the canine guests will be so good - I'll have a reason to get the mobility scooter out. At least with dogs in tow, I shan't feel a total wally trundling it round the field!:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
So sorry for the giant self pitying moan
LW, I really hope you enjoy having the dogs to stay! I've just managed to get out for a short "walk" down the road in my beastly mobility scooter, it's mahooosive, but fab.
I got the hoist for £180 inc postage, I'm huuuugely impressed0 -

Well done on getting the hoist; fwiw, I think you've done the right thing; realistically, yes, OK, you could get better in the near future, (that'd be lovely, right?) or you could be waiting a looooong time to feel any better, and, as you said, pay 3 times the amount for a hoist later.
I've just sent Mr LW into the kitchen to peel some spuds for tomorrow's Shepherd Spy.;) It wrecks my hands doing this, so he does it the night before and leaves them in a bowl of salt water:A (he's working from home tomorrow, so we'll be having our dins midday).
I suspect he'll want us to play Dragon Age Origins on the pc after he's done that, so please spare a thought for the poor Wolf bravely battling Darkspawn nasties!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
