Jaz, fingers crossed that the MRI results are helpful, and that you can get to see a halfway-decent doctor.
Hope everyone's OK.

Well I've finally had my first physio appt, and they've given me crutches that have ergonomic grips on - which feel better on the hands but I'm struggling to get used to. It seems to, I dunno, disperse the pressure differently so the crutches don't sort of go the way I predict?
Whatever it is, they're weird lol. I'll give em a try any way though and if I can't figure it in a few days I'll go back to my old standard crutches.:o
The physio who was assessing me came back with the senior bod, after checking the xray (which again shows nothing broken) and she (the senior) came in a bit "Right! Let's get you moving!" but then when she started examining/trying to move the ankle/foot she realised more why I actually can't not won't! She said that the Fibro is complicating matters though, in that it's sensitized all the nerve endings and stuff, so hubby has to do "light massage" -which essentially is just running his hands over the ankle and foot, up to the knee- with various textures (bare skin to rough towels etc) to try and desensitize it all...should be fun
I've got a few exercises to do -just really gentle sort of putting my foot down on the floor whilst sitting and try and pull it back towards me (thus bending the ankle) and using a bandage/dressing gown belt under the sole of my foot to put it towards me. Considering I only have 5 degrees (they measured!) of movement though, I really can't cope with much before a) it just physically won't go any further and b) it'll be agonising.
I asked how long they thought it would be to heal etc, and they did that typical "it depends how much work you put in" which I thought was a bit of a pat answer, but expected I spose. She did say though that my other conditions will potentially have an effect on my recovery and how much I'm capable of putting into it. And at least they'd heard of Fibro!;)"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Morning all! How is everyone today?
Hope the crutches help bigzippy - hopefully one you get used to them they won't feel so bad.
The standard answer every doctor/physio etc gives me isn't about me working at it, but "there isn't a magic pill/wand" you know.
OH WOW, all these 11 years I just thought a wand would be the answer! Have I ever gone in there saying cure me? No! It makes me SO angry when I hear it, but sadly it means I get so annoyed I mostly cry when I hear it!
I did manage to control my tears at the physio and doctors yesterday, but I did get really stressed when there were no blue badge spaces to park at the hospital, and all the 'normal' spaces were too far away. I ended up parking on a verge, where the person next to me had already got a ticket. I went in to ask the receptionist what to do and ended up crying in front of a queue of people! Luckily a kind woman said she was just leaving. I felt awful, as there was a queue of people waiting - but I had been there ages, just driving around trying to find a space, rather than queuing! There is always a huge line for the spaces, it's ridiculous. Anyway, I made it on time to my appointment.
I also ended up not going to Pilates yesterday - I was just too exhausted. And my physio gave me a long lecture about how I must go, and go to the gym, but I just couldn't do it.

hi all ..when i saw the physio, lots time and diff ones ..nothing really helped..but later on when referred to top in change pain clinic GOD ! who controls them all..said most were too young and not real idea ..just followed the text book ..and had no real experience ..ours are all about 21 ..well that explains that !.....my friend in a other country had a much much older person after the young un..and was so much better ,gave her a better time span to work on and exercises that fitted her better and made nearly a 98 % recover..is still fini them off.
coffee ..tea any one ? biccysthe truth is out there ... on these pages !!0 -
BZ, I have crutches with shaped handles like that, you do get used to them, and they're much kinder on hands and arms than normal ones.. mine are turquoise
but yes I think I know what you mean.
I found out yesterday that one of my amazing friends died in her sleep on early this week, she was 15. She had severe EDS type 2, and gastro probs, but they don't know yet what caused this. It's such a shock, you don't expect it, she was so young. It's too far for me to go for funeral aswell, which is frustrating.
Jaz, think it was just as well you didn't go to pilates, any kind of emotion is completely knackering, take it easyx
