Chicken noodle for me please, and Beef casserole for dinner.
I'm just trying my hand at throwing a bunch of stuff in the pressure cooker and seeing how it comes out! First a base of carrot, celery and onion, then tomato puree and chicken stock, followed by mushrooms, garlic, herbs and spices, fresh chopped tomato and chopped sausages. Then cornflour to thicken. Served with jacket potato. Fingers crossed!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

I've just put a batch of Birsay biscuits in the oven, so they'll be ready presently, as will fresh bread rolls and a lovely apple pie, made with apples "liberated" from a tree growing outside a local football ground.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Thank you lamewolf for the welcome! In regards to food, I try to as well, but sometimes it's so hard, when everything hurts and you're too tired to even think - to pick up the phone and get a takeaway. I'm trying to lose weight, so it's awful, but I sometimes just don't have the energy.
I'm 2 and 1/2 pounds from losing 2 1/2 stone though! I've hit a rut and have so much left to lose."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
jaz for those times i have homemade ready meals in the freezer, in micro to defrost and then to reheat and dinner is ready in 5 mins. i always cook extra to allow for leftovers for freezing.0

I unashamedly do things like making pastry in the food processor, and I'm lucky in that if I see a gadget that will make my life easier, my husband insists I have it. Also he likes home made food, so that's a bit of an inspiration.
Well done on the weight loss thus far; am I right in thinking it's normal to hit a bit of a "plateau" sometimes? (I need to lose some weight myself, but am totally failing to do so).
LOL I think the only reason we don't ever resort to takeaways is that I have a telephone phobia, so I literally can't phone up and order anything!

That's a good idea, I really must start doing that.
On another topic I just got my back payment of Jobseekers through finally (it's been 12 weeks!). So I've treated myself to a new pair of jeans (my current ones are three sizes two big, and won't stay up!) and some yoga/gym trousers, as I've signed up to a course to help with stress relief! Cost a bloody fortune.I'm tall and fat, so getting clothes is almost impossible. But yay new clothes!
Have my 13 week job seekers review today. So scared they are going to put me onto weekly sign ins. I work on Fridays, my sign in day, and they won't let me change my day.
Also back to the gym today. The doctors and local gym have an arrangement for cheap access and they help get a suitable programme for your disability. It's still bleeding exhausting though, so wish me luck please!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

Thank you! I guess it is normal, but I have so much left to go it's not helping! It doesn't help I keep getting chocolate and the aforementioned takeaways!
Oh dear, do you have a telephone, or just can't pick it up?"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
Luck duly wished, Jaz.
Hi Hassie nice to see you.
Jaz, re the telephone - I have one, but I have a phobia about speaking to anyone on the phone. My husband calls me at least twice a day to check I'm OK, but I have a particular ring tone set up for him, so I know it's "safe" to answer it. Anyone else gets "red buttoned" iykwim. If I need to call anyone, Mr LW has to do it for me, as I get panicky. In fact I'm feeling shaky and lightheaded just typing about it! :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Thanks for the luck! Oh no, what an awful phobia. Okay, will stop asking questions and making you feel bad! :P
:: phew :: Didn't go on weekly sign-ins at the Jobcentre. Just updated my agreement, and was on my way!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0
