Hello folks, I have returned from Alicante:j

The weather was averaging about 17 degrees C in the day and at night 11-12 so I managed to wander around wearing a fleece. If you want a new suitcase - fly into Alicante because they like to damage your suitcase there:mad: I didnt want a new one because mine had been used twice and yet they managed to drop it out of the aircraft so that it landed on something sharp and pointy so I was left with a massive hole in one side and a huge crack from the handle part right around the side:mad: I spent my whole time hunting around Alicante for a new one which I eventually bought on Thursday night in a wonderful shop called Al Campo (think big hypermarket selling everything from petrol scooters to food, to clothes, homewares etc), now my new suitcase is slightly larger than my old one, is baby pink (ewww) which makes it easier to spot on baggage carousels and is a whole lot better than the old one. I now have to make a claim against the airline for it:rolleyes:

Sales were on everywhere so the spaniards are feeling the pinch too plus the place seems to be littered with Chinese shops selling all sorts of tat and clothes. I adore Al Campo though and was bought (I am assuming it is a Christmas present) a lovely pure wool scarf (the sort you wear with a jumper) for 8 euros instead of 18 euros. In a Chinese shop I picked up a pair of silly slippers because my feet were cold walking around the tiled floor of the flat. We had fun although my feet feel like chopped liver (too much walking) and we ended up buying a washing machine and a fridge - there has never been a washing machine in the flat and the fridge was so old that instead of cooling things we discovered that it froze everything: tomatoes, desserts, lettuce, cheese, ham, pizzas and half a dozen fresh eggs. Mind you their service is much better because we went and bought the new appliances at 6pm on Thursday night and they were delivered at 8.30pm the same night:D

Hope everyone is ok and has recovered from the flu nonsense.

The drink of the moment is either Tia Maria & Coke or Frangelico with Limone (fanta lemon) Frangelico is a hazelnut liqueur and is quite tasty.

    Mmmmmmmm!! Smells great Alto!

I'll have a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and a LARGE glass of pinot grigio please :D

How is your daughter these days, Alto?

Strange weather we are having - yesterday evening it was howling a gale and the rain was hitting the windows fit to break them. Today we have clear blue skies and sunshine. I don't suppose it is warm (I haven't been out) but it certainly looks more cheerful!

The weather is certainly odd, yesterday was hellish and today bright sunshine but here it has started raining again and is windy. The Sunday papers said that next week we will get thundersnow storms - I know it sounds strange thunder, rain, snow all rolled into one:eek:

I have prepared some cheesecakes: blueberry and some strawberry ones, strawberry mousse and I found some Artic Roll in Tesco yesterday (good ol' Birds Eye bringing it back:j ).

Please move the cafe to somewhere where I can watch the world go by, without my nose dripping and my cough disturbing everyone.
Both of us are suffering somewhat even though we had a lovely time in Venice.
Couldn't even speak coherently to daughters on the phone without coughing!!!
However I'm sure not the only one who needs Lemsip, cuddles, huggles or cheering up.
The cafe is the place to get all the virtual help in the world.
Is that the sound of the surf I can hear?
    Rather soothing.

I think we should move the cafe to the Maldives - with soft white sand, warm sunshine, surf and crystal blue seas and cocktails and mocktails by the pool.

Sorry to hear that you are still poorly M.E. - how about a hot toddy to make you feel better?

Maldives sounds good to me. I only have to drive 20 minutes to the beach but it's freezing! So not very tempting.

The Maldives ARE lovely... I can hear the surf now.... and is that a gorgeous waiter bringing me a virtual cocktail?
    Splendid.
Contrast to the cough we both have!
