Ds and I are library users too. I would much rather pay the reservation fee than buy a book and only read it once. Since I've had ds, I think I'm doing well if I only have to renew my books once before taking them back. I only get 6, and I never, ever read them all by the first dates they are due back. Pre-ds I could read a book in a day!
We have finished another room in our [strike]project[/strike] [strike]hovel[/strike] house, so we've moved everything around again. Ds now has a bigger room so all his toys have gone upstairs, dh and I have a smaller room, but we don't have toys, so that's ok, and I now have an office/study whatever you would call it. One more room, and two flights of stairs and landings and that's the top of the house done.
We had corned beef hash and beans tonight as it was quick and easy to make. I can barely walk as we spent yesterday decluttering the junk room (3 flights of stairs from front door), so my legs are aching.
I also have a big bag of apples, kindly donated by a neighbour, so I'll probably stew and freeze those tomorrow. My bananas are nearly ripe enough to make banana muffins too, so another job for tomorrow.
Ds came back from MIL's with a packet of shortbread. I am now used to home made shortbread from a yummy recipe on here. The stuff out of the packet tasted disgusting. Yay for real shortbread!
Take care all of you.0 -

We have always used the library, we can reserve and renew books on line which is great, we get an email to tell us when the books are in....we usually go once a fortnight hand take out between 6 - 8 books each....the library staff are our friends and have been very concerned about OH during his recent illness, they even sent him a card.
They always say that if we moved away the library would close!!! LOL
I made a pot of leek and lentil soup, I used Lamb stock rather than chicken stock, it was delicious.....have enough in the fridge for another two lunches. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Good evening all
I am up later than usual because Thursdays have now become Morwenna's teaching nights!
I am teaching a couple to make their own clothes and have two young work colleagues who can't cook, so I am teaching them tooThey have alternate Thursday evening from me, as that is the day ExOH has the children. Tonight was sewing night, we have got to the cutting out stage. They have picked their own materials and patterns and (very ambitiously) he is making a shirt and his wife is making a dress and jacket. So far, everythings going really well.
BTW, I have his permission to use Stephen Leaks' recipes for the cookery lessons, but if any of you have similar step by step type recipes I would be very grateful. I suppose I will be buying two copies of Jamies new book as Christmas pressies too. I am making wipe clean recipe cards to use, two recipes on an A4, laminated.
Betheebee: I remember my mum making dried apple rings with srplus apples, she would thread them onto the handles of wooden spoons and dry in a (barely on) oven after cooking for the day.
Wannabee-Sybil - Nice to "see" you!
LameWolf - I hope you feel brighter soon0
