  • Hi Keith, why are we being asked to pay a lot more money for a furniture pack? When we viewed our apartment in June it was furnished! We feel the extra money we are going to have to pay is more than enough,

Sigh! Hhmmmnnn,,, now, it wouldn't be because someone thinks a group of people who have already fallen for a swindle might likely fall for another one?

  • We bought a (non-Ambasun) apt in Sunny Beach which went ahead without any problems. I am also an Ambasun client in Shatto in Bansko. (I was the one at the meeting recently who asked questions about Shatto. In Sunny Beach we used a firm called Furniture Shop Varna. These fitted the kitchen and furnished the apt. Everything went ahead without any great problems, so I will be using them again at Shatto. As a new user I can't post links (?) but if you email me at
s j sherer at blueyonder co uk

I will give you links to our Sunny beach apt which shows the kitchen and furniture.

The manager of furniture Shop Varna is called Svetlin. Have a look on their website

    furniture shop varna

If you are interested in using them, tell Svetlin that 'Steve from Shatto' refered you, and you will get a 5% discount on the web prices.

I have not had a furniture email that I presume has been sent out to the owners, as Shatto was not one of Dessi's developments. Maybe Svetlin can do something cheaper for you. Good luck!
  • I have not followed this thread put occasionally read a few posts.

Can some give me an apprasie of the Bulgarian market? This is just out of curosity I have no intention of buying !!!!!!

I am just curious to see how it compares to the Spanish market, which I know a great deal about, having been in the postion of owning 2 apartments in Spain at the start of the year. Bit the bullet and sold the investment property for a huge loss, the first property I am keeping.

A work mate of mine bought a Bulgarian property for around 60k in 2004/5 and I see that in a few posts back someone is saying that apartments previously at this price are going for 27k on ebay!!

With 2 million unsold properties in Spain, a more developed EU country with stronger ties to the established EU countries than Bulgaria I can't see countries like Bulgaria been a buying option for UK, Irish, German etc buyers, whilst there is so much capacity in Spainish market

So what's the overall situation today 50% falls??

I'm no expert about Bulgaria... about all I know is what I read in Bill Bryson's "Neither Here Nor There". It sounds very far away to me... with history of poverty, needs a lot of legal reform ect. About all I really know is they once had a good football team... in modern times Stoichkov was very good, and didn't they knock-out Germany in the 1994 World Cup.... with some defender towering over little Hassler for a headed winner.
Luxury property prices down by 40% in Bulgaria as real estate market sees average 28% decline

Meanwhile, the latest figures from the National Statistical Institute show an average year on year price fall of 28%. There is no sign of the downward trend slowing as average market prices in Bulgaria dropped by 5% in the third quarter of 2009.

  • When the dust finally settles from the global crisis and the traditional Med countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, South of France) offer enough substainable property for the declining EU popluation, I wonder if property prices in Bulgaria will revert to long term established values?

As an outsider I am under the impression that there is a two tier market in Bulgaria. One for the locals and one for foreign property speculators. The latter is now dead in the water, so that means prices fall to values affordable by local demand.
  • I've got a ricketty wooden shed at the bottom of my back garden for sale for only £25K. Do any of you bulgarian MUGS, sorry I mean shrewdies, want to buy it? Of course you do, cos you know a great investment when you see one.
