YES. MISSION SUCCESSFUL. Yippee. Now just got to work out how to use it!!! Not sure how I managed it really, plugged in the aerial cable but it was still b/w and flickering, so fiddled with scarts and moved the one in the TV into the other one and it seemed to do the trick. Haven't tried it upstairs yet but at least now know it works. Just got 800 posts worth of problems to work through now!!
Am sure, and hope in a way, it's not the last time we need to correspond, but just like to say how grateful I am for all the help I have received on here. Could not have done it without all this input. Many, many thanks. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0 -
Unfortunately it won't work on upstairs TV. PVR is fine - I can tell that it is working as it shows the channel number and I get sound but no picture. The screen is completely blank (dark grey) and doesn't respond to channel changing at all.
Now that I have had it working downstairs, I really feel that it would be great to get it installed upstairs so that I get the benefit of the freeview and as a back-up recorder if the Sony is being awkward. New TV?There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0 -

That's good new about the downstairs installation and the PVR Molly. Don't rush out the get a new TV for upstairs just yet.
So to address the issues upstairs:-
I believe you said the TV upstairs has only one Scart, if it has two (or more please correct me). As dc suggested in an earlier post it is possible that the upstairs TV does not support an RGB video signal input. The PVR output is set to output RGB by default. I also remember that on the downstairs system you originally had the PVR connected to what I interpreted you meant the "AV2" ( I think you used the words "arrow 2) on the TV. I also note that in your Thursday 10.29 AM post you said " so fiddled with scarts and moved the one in the TV into the other one and it seemed to do the trick." I'm not sure I fully follow your wording there but what I think you meant there was that you moved the PVR Scart connection from the TV AV2 input to the AV1. Commonly TV's with two Scart sockets support RGB input on the AV1 input but NOT on the AV2 input. So this would account for why it worked using the AV1 input but not the AV2 input.
So I suggest the next thing to try on the upstairs system is to change the output of the PVR from an RGB signal to a CVBS signal to see if the TV will accept this. I'm guessing that you did not follow exactly the following procedure I suggested in my Post No. 869:-
"I would further suggest that having solved the above issues downstairs, she also fully tests the Scart lead to be used upstairs on the downstairs installation She should test that the PVR is capable of outputting both RGB and CVBS using this lead. If when the PVR is moved upstairs there are still problems displaying the PVR output on the TV then it will be known that the problem is with the TV rather than the PVR. If the above does not reveal any problems with the Scart lead then I suggest Molly sets to PVR output to CVBS before moving it upstairs. If the original problem upstairs was that the TV is not capable of accepting an RGB input (as you suggested in an earlier post) then this will overcome that issue, thus hopefully enabling a display on the TV which will make it easier to change settings on the PVR rather than trying to do this "blind"."
If you did follow the above then the PVR will already be set to output a CVBS signal and we will have to investigate another reason why the upstairs TV is not displaying a picture. If you didn't change to CVBS before moving the PVR upstairs then there are two alternatives. Either move the PVR back to the downstairs system and change it CVBS output or try the "blind" method outlined in dc's post No.869. Let us know if you need help with whichever way you choose.
Getting very late now so will leave it at that for now.

http://www.key-electronics.co.uk/contact_us_halifax,
when I last spoke to them (a few days ago) there was still one outstanding thing to be sorted with the next update, Version 1.2.
This involves the Winter Hill ITV sound losses, and even though it is possibly a transmitter problem, Key will not be happy till this is fixed.
So a unless it is sorted in time by Technotrend the German supplier, the transmission could be delayed a second time.
In this list it is in the forthcoming section.

If it is a Philips DTR 1500 then there is a repeat update on 16-18 Feb. Version 44. Box must be set to auto update and in standby to allow update.

Had a srange one last night, all the programmes on EPG BBC2 were listed to start an hour later than in the newpaper and teletext so built in extra at the end but recording started an hour earlier than listed as if the PVR was GMT +1, but the clock on EPG was correct??0

I suspect that was caused by the incorrect transmission of time data which occurred yesterday and affected several makes of PVR's.
