The DTG website has been updated today and the TechnoTrend update previously scheduled provisionally for the 20th Feb has now been removed. There is now a provisional update sheduled for 23rd Feb but this is identified as being for the Bush and Goodmans single tuner versions of this PVR series. I spoke to Key Electronics today but they had no later information than that they received in January regarding the Feb 20th
    forecast.

I've been away for a week, and the PVR has recorded 15 programs (7 dailys and 8 timed) and is still working OK. It was left on, not on standby.

The DTG info is a little disappointing, we'll have to see if the update on 23rd is for the PVR101 as well, not. I notice also the version number is 1.4 not 1.2, so I guess they've had a few stabs at the code.

I've not received an update from Key.

Did you leave the unit switched on or in standby?

Don't tell the green brigade, but we left it switched on! Always do!

Unfortunately, after I'd ploughed through the African Nations Cup games tonight (what a bore!) it immediately gave a No Signal when I tried to go to Freeview. More grief from OH as she wanted to watch American Idol! Luckily, it then decided to be good and everything's been fine since then.

I think this is probably the most frustrating aspect of the 101. Its unpredictability.

Has anyone who was told by Key that they would get their box swapped actually had their box swapped? I ask because mine has a hardware fault (the VCR loop thru distorts screen brightness) and I was wondering whether it is worth bothering to try and get it swapped or not.
  • First time post although i have been following this thread from page one. Like everyone else i am hoping the 'new' firmware update will sort out the problems. until the 1.1 update i didn't have 'no signal' problem which is now intermittant. The main problem i have is recording BBC programs. I am on the Emily Moore Signal. All other programs seem to record ok but BBC channels appear to record, blue led on, but only records 1Mb - i.e. 0 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem. I don't recall seeing anything amongst the 90pages. Shame about the cancellation of the update.

They are all like this - its not a problem specific to your unit. There is a simple fix - you need to solder a 75ohm resistor between pins 20 and 21 (shield) on the SCART cable at the PVR end. If you need to obtain a resistor see the "75 ohm resistor" entry at pvr101.blogspot.com

Have you tried re-doing the "first time installation" process? It might cure this problem.

Hopefully we might get more info on the update on Monday. I've asked Key for an update on what's going on.

I have been told by Key, that No boxes will be swopped till they have a fully working PVR.
Info last week is that the software update has solved "all" problems except the Winter Hill "no sound" one, hence the update delays.

  • Yes tried auto config from scratch and manual. The signals fine time shift works on the BBC channels, recording appears to , blue light on but switch off check recordings and no matter how long it was recording only appears as 1Mb!!!

The No Signal problem certainly is the big problem with this box. I have given up using the box to watch live TV. I try wherever convenient to record most programmes and watch them later or if I'm in more of a hurry record half the programme, stop the recording and initiate recording again for the second half, then watch first half by which time second half is ready to watch. Sounds a lot of hassle but only involves a couple of extra button presses and takes a few seconds. If that is not convenient I fortunately have a Sky box available to watch live TV.

Key don't seem to know what is going on. The guy I spoke to on Friday checked the DTG site whilst I was speaking to him and was unaware of the changes appearing on there during this week. The latest info they have from TechnoTrend is the email from them received at the end of January forcasting the update on 20 Feb which is not now happening. The guy did say he would try to get more info.

Edit:- Sorry, that sounds like a strong criticism of Key. It was not meant to be. It seems that TechnoTrend are not keeping Key up to date with information.
