creddish wrote:The No Signal problem certainly is the big problem with this box. I have given up using the box to watch live TV. I try wherever convenient to record most programmes and watch them later or if I'm in more of a hurry record half the programme, stop the recording and initiate recording again for the second half, then watch first half by which time second half is ready to watch. Sounds a lot of hassle but only involves a couple of extra button presses and takes a few seconds. If that is not convenient I fortunately have a Sky box available to watch live TV.
Colin.
Well, whadya know....set it to record on standby Friday night and everything was fine Saturday! Even seems to have reduced the incidence of No Signal (must be coincidence)!
Although I'm sorry for the Winter Hill contingent, if the No Signal problem HAS been solved, can't we lobby for a two-part upgrade? (1.2.0 now and 1.2.1 when the no sound problem is sorted.)0 -
well if the update doesn't happen very soon i'm gonna be very unpopular in this household as i informed the other house mates an update fixing the no signal problem would be transmitted tomorrow so got them to agree to wait till then. i don't want to tell them it may not now and cant say when it might if ever happen. now i'm wondering if i made a mistake keeping it this long?
seems to me a bit unfair on its customers of technotrend to not be able tell us, especially those of us who opted to hold in there a bit longer on the believe a software fix would soon happen.thanks to everyone who has thanked me!0 -

Recordings from standby are often successful but it is my experience and other posters than to be sure of successful recordings it is wise NOT to set to standby.

I agree it is frustrating but not un-typical of PVR manufacturers. Fusion and Thomson users had to wait over 6 months for their first updates and well over a year later they are still waiting for signifiant issues to be solved. Panasonic users have had similar waits. The Humax 9200 owners are still waiting for an update to solve major issues with their units 5 months after launch. At least we have had one update which although not solving the major No Signal issue did improve the reliability of the Hard Disk storage features.

Oh dear.....just seen this posted on DigitalSpy at 12.42 p.m.(Thanks Carpathian).

Sorry to inform people but I just called Key and had a natter with them and.......
.....the 1.2 update for the PVR101 HAS been dropped with no scheduled replacement update in the works either at the moment. As soon as they get told by the makers they will let people know via the contact details they've been given and also put a recorded message on their phone system but until then Key know no more than we do.
So DON'T look to try the 1.4 as it isn't anything to do with our kit !! Not sure if this thread should therefore be closed to avoid confusion ??
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but there you go !!!

Looks like Key have been stringing us along saying that most things were fixed! I have a feeling Aldi are gonna get a lot more of these back shortly.0 -
Mine went back today, remember to take a 1p with you so you can get your refund in crisp £20 notes! A sad day but the box drove the wife insane especially when she had to reboot it every few hours, not easy to bend over when 9 months pregnant! This signature is not mine!0

Sorry if this has been already posted
It's actually 01422 204010! And the nice man has just recommended I get my money back!!!
I pointed out that their auto-message still says there's an upgrade due this week and they really ought to get that updated too!0 -

That's pretty different to what I've just been told. I've been asked to omit some of the details, so I've paraphrased:
The update for the 20th was pulled at the last moment due to one of the big bugs still existing. A new update will be scheduled shortly
"We are as disappointed as others that this update is not going ahead, but look forward to a version rollout that shouldcure 99% of customers issues."

I think the only conclusion from all this Lorian is that Key haven't a clue! I've emailed TechnoTrend. We'll have to see if they understand English!
As I said yesterday, I'm sorry for Winter Hill, but the No Signal problem is more widespread and, if they have solved it as indicated earlier, a new version should be released.
My own gut-feeling is that they haven't solved much at all!0 -
From what I've read I guess the winter-hill bug is also prevalent in the Bush and Goodmans boxes, in which case it is suprising they are re-transmitting just for these two boxes on the 23rd.
I think there is still a chance the update on the 23rd will apply to the PVR101 too. It's a theory that will stop me throwing my toys out of the pram until Thursday anyway.0
