Yes - I agree. But last night I didn't know if it was a common problem or just my machine.... and didn't want to risk not getting a replacement if it was my machine. At least the ITV sound problem is overcomeable and you now know it is a bug. Having no hard disk is more of an issue! :-)

Sure, completely agree that you don't want to be the only one with a problem. Having played a bit more with mine, I think that my wife will be able to learn how to select ITV so that she has sound! Let's hope there is a work-around released which negates the problem.

    Regards,

Tsk - you should know, as a MoneySaver, that you can get them for less than that! :snow_grin

*grins* I do know that but the £30 ones all seem to be at the very low end of the market both for epg and reliability.

My signal strenght is quite low on the aerial I'm using and I'm getting some breaking up but apart from that it's fine.

As for the timeshift function it works like this:

    Press pause.
When you are ready to start watching again, press play.
You can rewind to the beginning of your pause or fast forward to live.

You can do this while it is recording another channel.

The real shame is, unlike my thomson DTH1000 you can't just rewind live TV shows at any time, whether you've paused or not. Great for when you've missed what one character has said.

I am still undecided but I will attempt to improve the signal strenth at some point before Christmas and see what we see.

One minor point...I was not very happy when I plugged it in and nothing happened - no power, nothing. I tried everything (including wiggling the wire) but no good. Pulled the machine out to take it back and noticed the on/off swithch on the back.

    D'OH!

got to the burton store about 8:50am and i was 11th in the q!

was about 20 there by 9:00am

was well funny, when they pushed the button to open the doors this old dear dashed with her trolley to the far end electrical bit but they were keeping em behind the tills!

got in there quick and bought 2,they said they had about 5 big boxes and I think there was 4 or 5 PVR in each big box.

just set 1 up and all seems fine.

picture quality is slightly inferior to our nokia221T and grundigsky box but only slightly.

more than happy with the picture, just needs a bit more brightness/colour i think

    user freindly

gonna set up the other 1 in a minute
  • FYI: My Milton Keynes store at 9.03am (arrived just as the crowd got in through the door) had a 'pallet' load on display with I'd estimate around 75-100 boxes, of which about 1/3rd had gone by 9.45 when I left the store (with 2 of them).

Some delay in queues as there is that TV receiver licensing nonsense of filling in a form with a name and address so some pointless bureaucrat can waste our tax/licence £ checking if whoever is listed on the form has a licence"

Have set up Freeview and all working well. No sound problems at all. Picture quality needed some fine tuning on brightness and contrast.

However, have had to use our DVD SCART to connect the TV. Will have to wait for 25yo son to sort that out tonight!

Very glad I got it - would have forgotten Liverpool were playing this morning otherwise!!!

Haven't they changed the advert on the website?

I could swear it said "Can record 2 channels at the same time whilst watching one of them" as I checked after someone put up the details of the advert.

    *goes to get leaflet*

says "Can record 2 channels at the same time whilst watching one of them" on leaflet

    This is annoying

I have checked the original advert posted at the beginning of this thread and it seems to be the case that the advert now showing on the Aldi site has been changed.

Originally, the PVR was advertised as being able to record two separate channels while watching one of them. This has now changed to being able to 'record one channel while watching another'!

If this is indeed the case, then this PVR is no longer the bargain it originally appeared to be. I will be checking mine when i get home tonight and if it doesn't record two at the same time then its going back.

£99.99 for a single tuner 'Technosonic' PVR is not value!

The EPG seems to be a bit duff. There are 3 EPG options, but it doesn't seem possible to scan up through the now and next info (via the I-bar) while watching the current channel.

Or have I missed something? You used to be able to do that on my old ON Digital box.

Other than that, seems pretty good for the money, although I too seem to remember it being advertised as recording two channels.

Also, there seems to be a glitch with the recording software. I went to More4 tonight, via the 'List' EPG to schedule The Explosive 80s (22:00). For some reason, it wants to record UK History instead of More4. Can anyone else replicate this?

I agree, added to the fact that the sound doesn't work on ITV on mine. I thought it would be a nice upgrade for my humax 8000t, but i think that's gonna be staying.

The remote on the aldi box is so cheap and nasty it's unbelievable.

Also, in the epg, why on earth is there no "find" feature. On the humax i can search for a program. IE i can type in neigbours, and it will show me every episode for the next week for me to highlight and record.

    I'm not happy with it.
