I think I'm gonna keep hold of it. The user interface isn't as intuative as Sky Plus (what is?) and only being able to record one program at a time is a bit of a bummer but it is very rare that there is three things on at the same time that I want to watch. It's £80 cheaper than what I was going to go for (the Digifusion FRVT200) and I can maybe get £20 for my old Ferguson freeview on ebay.
The FVRT200 is on at £157 including delivery at tribaluk.co.uk, although they are currently out of stock but expect deliveries soon (I hope so - ordered one for my mother-in-law!).
So its only £57 cheaper than a true twin tuner box!Goatie :snow_grin0 -
LOL can't believe how many are planning returns already!!! Why does nothing work as it should now-a-days?!!??!
So what unit would people recommend to enable dual tuner simultaneous recording, and how much would a unit cost, compared to the Aldi one?
Anyone had the 'not-recording' problem like I posted earlier?
Bloody froze my bits off waiting 40 mins to get this !!!!!!, not giving up without a fight!0 -

AH...so me waiting 2 hours for it to format was all in hope then? The support desk have not rung me back as promised - though I expect that they are going to have a busy week - as are Aldi with returns.
I may not even bother ringing tech support back as I reckon I may be better spending a bit more and getting something a bit more flexible and reliable. I've already wasted a couple of hours just going to ALDI and back...never mind the playing around with it and frustration.0 -
Picked one of these up this morning in the Milton Keynes Aldi. I can confirm that there is a great similarity to the Bush PDVR-108, even the remote control is the same. The only difference is that the Bush had software version 1.0 (version 1.0 of anything always makes me slightly nervous!) and the Technosonic has version 1.0(UK)D. And of course the Technosonic has the 1 + 1 record feature whereas the Bush is a single tuner.
I have already had the 'no signal' problem which, as previously stated on here, can be cleared by switching the unit off and on again. A bit of a pain, but I'll persevere to see how often that happens.
So far I haven't had the 'missing sound' problem on the Technosonic - although the Bush did have that and could be cleared by tuning to a radio channel and back a gain . . no, I don't know why that works either!
Ultimately I suppose you get what you pay for, and this box is cheap :-)0 -
Greedy ebayers are already selling this on Ebay one numbskull is claiming is RRP is £169.0

Hi all - this may help. Mine had various problems - did a software upgrade - didn't help until I switched off then back on - fine now.
There are 2 tuners inside and the hard drive seems to be a doddle to replace with larger one.....
Component quality is good and hard drive is Western Digital 7200 RPM
Now very happy punter...

How did you do that? I thought they broadcast any upgrades at 3:00am, then when you next turn on you have the choice to install it. Was there an upgrade already waiting on the HD?Goatie :snow_grin0 -
Sorry, seems I didn't upgrade software. Showes Ver.1.0(uk)D
However, the box did work correctly once I did a "Hard" reset
Sorry about confusion.
Still, very happy with box - picture quality compares faivorably
with my Sony Freeview Box (the ultimate one)
-Also, program switching is quite fast.0 -
So if the HD is easy to replace, I'd assume that it'd be pretty easy to hook up to a computer via IDE ?
If so then you could move any recorded files to your comp for burning I'd assume.
That in itself would warrant me keeping it....can't wait to get my hands on it...this is my first jump from VHS.
So do we reckon there'll be an upgrade tonight at 3am?0 -
Not sure if the formatting on the HD would be read correctly if you just fitted it directly into a PC ...
Easiest way to burn a DVD is to connect a DVD Recorder via Scart to VCR Scart connector, play on the PVR and record on the DVD. Slow, but you can just leave it running.
As for over the air upgrades, none are scheduled ... follow this link http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/download_schedule.pl for program updates for the next few weeks.Goatie :snow_grin0
