I've just spoken to a lady at Key and she says that we should return the PVR101 to Aldi for a refund as they will not be getting any machines to send out as replacements and that they don't think there will be any more f/w upgrades!!!

Unless your's is working perfectly of course.

Well, let's be frank here. it has appeared that Key haven't really had a clue whats going on since Christmas. I recall they said a similar thing to a customer just a week or two before the last release.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not blaming them, it just seems they are pretty much out of the loop.

Also it's my opinion there will be more updates. There are several clones of this box now that use the same firmware.

My guess is the message from them should really be "if your box is still running 1.0 or has a hardware fault then return it because we have no replacements".

My limited contact with them led me to the same conclusion.

I think we need updated f/w for at least two problems:

    1. Cross-interference from remotes. Our Goodmans TV remote always stops playback of PVR recordings if used to increase or decrease TV volume.

    2. Poor run-in/run-out timing of programmed recordings. I have had many instances of recordings starting late and stopping early. I first put this down to broadcast errors but it's happening too often on standard programmes.

However, the overall effect of the PVR has been to improve our use of the TV! So ours won't be going back.

Thanks jeff, I've already seen it and added it to the blog, but am just a little cautious as to what models it's for because technotrend make the firmware for a lot of STBs.

There is a hope it's for the PVR101 of course, we should know on Tuesday.

If you open up the EPG and go to the programme you have set the unwanted timer for, just press the record button again and it removes it from the timers list.

Thanks Ian but when I tried this the old programmes I had set to record on a weekly basis were not in the current shedules on the EPG. The only work around I have found is to edit the timer entry from 'weekly' to 'once' and hopefully when it has done the next recording it will be dropped from the record list.

Spare remote control. Does anyone have a spare remote control they might like to give / sell me?

Huge fault today - recording different programme every 2 minutes and maxed out the hard drive, same as post above. Lost all my recordings... what do I do??

You can delete a single item in the timer list using the > key next to the ok button. If you make a mistake it can be restored with the < key.

    Thanks - I'll try that.
