  • I love the chequebooks facilities on two of the bank accounts I have and find them very useful and convenient

  • I used my Cheque gaurantee card a couple of months ago, hadn't realised I was a couple of quid short in the account, cheque was for £25 the total after charges was about £100 never never again  I learnt that lesson

I read there was a preliminary date to phase out the whole cheque guarantee system around 2013, once enough people had access to other payment facilities (prepaid cards and FPS were mentioned).

    How ridiculous
  • In today's climate it's perfectly normal and becoming commonplace. People are spreading their money out in view of the FSCS threasholds and also HSBC and Natwest Premier services are completely different with a whole range of benefits. One does things the other doesn't and vice versa so it's good sense to have two in a way I think. Not that I could ever dream of being Premier with any bank-not at least until my 6 numbers come up!!! LOL!!!
Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!

I think there's a different lesson there besides "don't guarantee your cheques".

I don't think so... I've always only had a £100 limit with the but have a £250 limit with RBS.
