I read there was a preliminary date to phase out the whole cheque guarantee system around 2013, once enough people had access to other payment facilities (prepaid cards and FPS were mentioned).0

In today's climate it's perfectly normal and becoming commonplace. People are spreading their money out in view of the FSCS threasholds and also HSBC and Natwest Premier services are completely different with a whole range of benefits. One does things the other doesn't and vice versa so it's good sense to have two in a way I think. Not that I could ever dream of being Premier with any bank-not at least until my 6 numbers come up!!! LOL!!!Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!0 -

I think there's a different lesson there besides "don't guarantee your cheques".0 -
