  • I'm starting a new bank called Bank of MonkeySavingEggspurt.com........please send me all your money, preferably in a variety of clean notes in plain brown envelopes. All currencies accepted.

I'll let it hang around for a few years and then go out of business and steal the lot :-)

This way you get to feed your obsession and I get rich...everyone's a winner!

    Well done justaqickie.

    How are you this afternoon?

Thanks for asking, Lynt, I was doing great until some thoughtless soul re-opened a Tesco bank clubcard points offer thread. I so nearly slipped into the hideous (blue and white) abyss. I'm still shaking and patting my pocket. Let's try and get through this thing together.

My name's justaquickie, and I'm an accountaholic.

Yes I've been tempted by that one too - there was a man there when i went shopping today - narrowly missed being grabbed!

I found it helps to try and convince myself: If I open accounts with everybody now, I won't be able to take advantage of new saver rates in the future!

Have to keep away from the places that offer these things like Supermarkets and Oh No I am also addicted to MSE - what do i do?
  • I,m always opening new accounts with something in mind to save for (new car, another kid etc)Last one was a Scottish BS account to put a grand in which is in case of strikes! In my single days I would save in different accounts for different holidays.
Closing 3 B+B accounts at moment though at moment because they are now owned by the evil abbey, that will let me open some more building society accounts!
I have a deep burning indifference

My software of choice is GnuCash, which will import from MS Money, according to the docs.

Edit: I thought you stipulated that it had to be free. I must be seeing things :). GnuCash IS free, so that's an added bonus!

Is GnuCash for businesses, though? - I've seen other possibles to use instaid of Money - but all are business orientated.

My main gripe about Money is it doesn't automatically link my credit cards to my main account....
  • Oh my god, i thought it was only me :rotfl: 4 accounts and counting, 3 of them before the recent events though.

I used to have that problem, so now I keep them all written down on a piece of paper next to my computer titled "Bank Usernames/Passwords".

Also to make it so I have less passwords I have got rid of my computer password, so I can get in to my computer without a password now :money:

    Hope this helps.

I do this as well but became worried that a burglar might steal my list of passwords and bank account details so I now slip the page into my back pocket whenever I leave the house. You can't be too careful :rotfl:
  • I have 8 at the moment, but I have a regular saver maturing on 1st November (SOOOOOOO excited), so I need to replace that. I'm shopping around for a KE replacement at the moment, because I'm sceptical at how long the rate is going to last now it's with ING.

However, I'm a very fussy addict:-

:T Interest rate must be above 6% (though, now inflation is 5.2%, and I'm a BR taxpayer, even that isn't good enough now :( ) or above 8% for a regular saver

:T must be instant access, with no withdrawal penalties,

:T must be funded initially by BACS or DD (no chequebook, and no time to walk into a branch with the cash),

:T must pay monthly interest (unless regular saver),

    :T must have internet banking,

:T must have full FSCS guarantee,

:T must not be from a bank which will drop the rate in 6 weeks and start flogging issue 2 (happy to tart, but not happy that they rely so much on tasty rate to low rate)

:T interest must be paid into the account.

If anyone sees an account that fits, let me know, and I'll open it :D Oops, I mean, I'll ignore it.

My name is Lucy, and I'm an account addict.

I do the same, and I also always leave my front door unlocked so burglars don't need to damage the door/lock. ;)
